You need to: - give PR right to the GLOBAL Admin user, or to your administrative user (not on XWiki space specifically, but globally for that user) - be logged with this GLOBAL user when you try to install the extension For the first part, you need to check that you are in the global administration section of your main wiki (not in a space admin, not in a subwiki). For the second part, you can check if your user is local or global by going to the profile (top-right), and check the url. If that url targets a subwiki your user is a local user and it's no good. [xwiki-users] Can't install Column Macro due to lack of Programming Rights
Ok, so I want to install the Column Macro, but I am getting this error when I try to install it by the Extension Manager: Programming right is required to install extension [jeromevelociter:column-macro-1.0] on namespace [wiki:xwiki] So I go to the XWiki Administration -- Rights -- And I grant the Admin Programming Rights for the XWiki Administation (there's now a green mark/tick). But I still can't install the macro. If I select the XWiki space, I can't set any programming rights (that column is only available on the XWiki Administration). Ok, so I set PR rights to myself...but I can not administer the Wiki. So I can't get to the Extension Manager to install the Column Macro!!! So now I need to give myself full admin rights to the wiki too??? Ok, I will try to explain: We were on XWiki 4.0 previously. On that XWiki I used the Admin user to manage the XWiki, installing extensions never gave me any trouble. Now, we are moving to XWiki 5.4.2, and suddenly my Admin user can't be used anymore to install a simple Extension like the Column Maco. The user who installs the Column Macro needs to have PR, but the Admin user doen't have PR by default. But giving the Admin user PR doesn't cut it. The Admin user still can't install the Column Macro. What I have done now: -I have given myself Admin Rights to the XWiki space. This way I can administer the XWiki.
