Yes this feature setup did not changed since a while. On Wed, Jan 4, 2017 at 3:30 AM, novnovicewrote: > Thanks again Marius. Thanks again Marius. I had not made it that far down the page, and it is well explained there. I see too that in the same are it links to the xwiki 7.x youtube video I'd found; that must mean that the video is still good for 8.x. -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/What-does-Version-8-4-3-is-installed-as-dependency-mean-tp7602230p7602260.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
Re: [xwiki-users] What does "Version 8.4.3 is installed as dependency" mean?
Re connecting openoffice and xwiki, Google finds https://network.xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/view/DocXE51En/OfficeImporter and a similar page for 4.x; I can't find anything in the 8.x docs; probably missed it (google seems to have missed it too). The closest is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP_N5U_GIJY which is for xwiki 7. Is the config for 7.x close enough to 8.x so that I can follow that guidance? In the video there is mention of an option to manage internally or externally #-# [Since 1.9M2] #-# Type of the openoffice server instance used by officeimporter component. #-# 0 - Internally managed server instance. (Default) #-# 1 - Externally managed (local) server instance. # openoffice.serverType=0 Does option 0 mean that xwiki will expose openoffice configuration, as far as it pertains to xwiki? And would option 1 mean that the admin (probably an expert) would configure the relevant aspects of openoffice from "outside" xwiki? Even more basic - as far as open office goes, I install oo, and configure it to run as a service? "openoffice server" isn't a separate product if I'm not mistaken, it's just oo configured to run in server mode? -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/What-does-Version-8-4-3-is-installed-as-dependency-mean-tp7602230p7602241.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
Re: [xwiki-users] What does "Version 8.4.3 is installed as dependency" mean?
Thanks for making what must have seemed to be the most obvious reply of the recent period . Since it seemed to me to be not installed, I couldn't interpret "is installed" as "is installed" Now that you made it clear that it is bundled with 8.4.3, I see that I missed a critical item of information on the office importer application page: "The Office Importer requires a back-end Open Office server for its operations." I don't have exposure to open office for a long time now. I will check out getting open office server set up and hopefully that will help. Not sure if anyone has told you folks for a while - but xwiki is really impressive. I am just scratching the surface and it is a real treat. -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/What-does-Version-8-4-3-is-installed-as-dependency-mean-tp7602230p7602240.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [xwiki-users] What does "Version 8.4.3 is installed as dependency" mean?
As you can see on http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Office+Importer+Application, Office Import is bundled in XE so you need to install it. "Version 8.4.3 is installed as dependency" means exactly what is written: it is installed already in version 8.4.3 and it's been installed as a dependency of another extension. You get downgrade button probably because you are looking at a version of Office Import extension lower than the one installed already. [xwiki-users] What does "Version 8.4.3 is installed as dependency" mean?
I wanted to import a word document to see how it does. I have xwiki 8.4.3. The Office Importer Application needs to be installed, as far as I can tell. Next to it's name it says 8.3, and in the header it has "Version 8.4.3 is installed as dependency". It does not have the blue Install button; instead it says "Downgrade". Dependencies listed are xwiki platform - office - importer 8.3 and then "version 8.4.3 is provided" xwiki commons - component - api and then "version 8.4.3 is provided" I have not found anything in the docs that explain what this means, although I expect the info is there somewhere. Does it mean that I have to downgrade my installation to 8.3 in order to get this extension to install? But another extension "File Manager Application" does have the blue install button; and it has many dependencies on apparently older extensions like velocity macro 5.4.4. I can't make sense of it. I've searched quite a bit and haven't found anything relevant. -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/What-does-Version-8-4-3-is-installed-as-dependency-mean-tp7602230.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
