Hello,
I finally found sometime this weekend to check out IronPython's support
for the Office2003 PIA's. Final impression is that somethings work, but
most didn't.
Here's a link to the bug I opened showing a small amount of interaction with the word application class via the console.

It seems that IronPython is comfortable with double
data types but not single’s. To get around this I am forced to to a
Convert.ToDouble(singleThingy) every time that I find one. Is there a plan to
fix this?

Yes, there is plan to fix this. In some cases the Single type already works,
but there are places where the support is still missing.
