Indeed! But I did send my message privately in an attempt to help the
questioner to express her query better - to improve the likelihood of
help - without embarrassing her in public. I couldn't myself help
without more details, but what I said might help her to express her
needs so that others could. She has been asked by Important People
(not me) not to forward private messages to the list ("Disclosing
private emails makes list subscribers very uncomfortable, no matter
how you feel about this"), but she persists in ignoring that advice.
In fact, I have no problem with this material becoming public.

Er, what's a "PP", please? If you get no replies, wouldn't it be sensible
to wonder if people did not understand your request? Do you perhaps mean a
presentation (Impress) document? Or something else?

[sorry, I thought everyone used 'PP' for Power Point presentation or
Impress]

Why would you create any parts that were not "best"?!

[for the same reason, when writing anything; first, I get the idea down
as quickly as possible, then I add flourish to it, then after a few days, I
return to the piece to edit]

Do you mean that you could edit slides from different presentations into a
single presentation? Surely you can simply copy slides from the Slides
panel in one document and paste them into the Slides panel of the other
document? Doesn't that still work for you?

[yes, it allowed me to insert each PP into one; in fact, that's one of
the main reasons I preferred LO to any of these others.
ok, How can I see the slide panel of the other PP when only the one PP
is open?; are you saying, it's possible to somehow open LO more than once?;
wow, I can't image what this screen would even look like if I had 1/2 dozen
LOs open at one time.]

But this feature seems to be lacking now ...

If you explained how you did it before, someone may be able to comment on
whether your method is still available.

   [hopefully - thank you.]

Yes, I can see how to insert images, ... but not how to insert PPs.
>

Hold on: if a "PP" is a presentation document, you cannot insert an entire
document into something else. Indeed, what other sort of document would you
be trying to insert it into? So a "PP" cannot be a presentation and no-one
will know what you are talking about.

[ah, but it was quite possible in the LO 3:]

If no-one answers your question, surely a good start would be to consider
that you might not have expressed it clearly?

Maybe changing to a Mac wasn't a good idea after all; ...

Oh, you may well be right! Ho, ho!

I trust this helps.

yes, this was right next to the image one ... in fact, one could

Hello there,

A million thanks for free LibreOffice.

I have created some excel chat on Windows with Microsoft office 2007 and 2010.
I have nought a  macbookpro laptop and I have installed on it OpenOffice 3.3
and last night I noticed it doesn't display my excel charts. My charts are
inside documents (I mean I have included my graphs inside my PhD thesis
chapters). Open Office displays words and description but graphs are faded. I
can see graphs in my friend's laptop which is windows and she has Microsoft
Office 2007 on it.

My question is this:

If I install free LibreOffice on my MacbookPro (2011 version), will it display
my Excel charts that I have created on Windows laptop with Microsoft office
2007 and 2010?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Kind regards

Mary

Re: [libreoffice-users] Please help/advice...

2011-02-02 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)

Good move. Posting a new bug-report and linking it to the old one was good
because they appear to be slightly different. OOo have never been fast at
accepting fixes for bugs which was part of the reason for Go-oo. LibreOffice
and
Go-oo merged bringing in a wealth of well-tested code. LibreOffice is working
at fixing the back-log while also developing new features.

The document is not a document, it is a template, and it contains a lot of
macros. Documents produced using the template 'should' be easier to translate
into MS Office formats. MS Office uses dangerous and vulnerable systems for
it's macros. Presumably OOo and LibO macros are very different.

Can you save this template as a document with no macros?
File - Save As ..

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Hello my name is Chris Fleischmann, I have been using the OpenOffice SDK with
OpenOffice.org for quite some time. All was working well, except for when I
tried to save my document to MS Word format. I came across a bug where by a
TextFrame with a background image (attribute: BackGraphicURL is set), contains
another TextFrame holding an image, (see uploaded
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/67358/test2.sxw
sample
exhibiting one of the errors seen when opening in MS Word)... When trying to
save the document, you get an error and the document doesn't open properly in
MS
Word, 2000, XP, 2003 or 2007. I previously logged a bug against this as:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=103356

However this bug was closed as a duplicate of :
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=32638... However this bug is
not the same I believe, and exhibits different behaviours... In any case, this
bug has been opened for some time, and I guess I am hoping for a solution or
any
possible workaround. I can't imagine people liking the idea that they can't
save
their documents in MS Word format to not be able to open?

I have tried now using LibreOffice for personal reasons as well as newer
features, but the problem still can be observed with 3.3.0
OOO330m19 (Build:6), tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide on the subject.

Kind Regards,

Chris
