I have Apache Open Office, German version, 4,1,2 updated to 4,1,3. I am using
it on a WIN 10 computer.
The program does not talk to my printer.
Help says to click on the ‘new Printer’ button to install a new printer.
Therein lies the problem: In the German version, there is no ‘New

yes. openoffice supports importing microsoft files, but if you need to
export as newer format of microsoft office program like docx xlsx pptx
etc, you need to install libreoffice.
because openoffice only exports as microsoft office 2003 format, like
doc, ppt or xls.

are you saying that you only have this problem in german version of
openoffice, not its other languages?
openoffice 4.1.4 is near to release and i wish that your issue be resolved soon.

I believe the question was about Microsoft Works files, not Office. I
don't know that OO can open Works files.

Apache OpenOffice does not import/read Microsoft Works files.
LibreOffice can import/read _some_ Microsoft Works files.
Neither office suite will save to a Microsoft Works file format.
