What OS are you using?
On the Mac you can define the application that opens a given class of files,
such as .doc suffixes. I think Windows has a similar function, somewhere.

If you have a Mac:
Control-click on the file icon
Hover the cursor over ‘Open With’
Press Option: ‘Open With’ changes to ‘Always Open With’
Click on an application from the list.

You might consider downloading and installing AOO for research.
4.1.5 for Mac does not save in .docx. It does save as MS 2003 in .xml.

Hi Karen—
Here’s what you do:
1. Click on an incon for the file type you want to always open with AOO while
simultaneously holding down the Control key.
2. Release the Control key and hover the cursor over ‘Open With’
3. Hold down the Option key; ‘Open With’ will change to ‘Always Open With’.

You may be able to save the OO document as a Word file, then open it in Pages.
If the notation comes from a special font, check to see if it displays normally
in OO. Some system fonts do, and some don’t.
