You may be able to recover a previous version of the file - see
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71=85038 for a Tutorial
on How to find and un-delete AOO temporary files giving detailed instructions
on how to

a) use Previous Versions (W7 and later) to recover previous
versions of the file ;

b) recover your file as it was when you last opened or saved it, or as it was
when it was last saved with AutoRecovery;

c) find previous versions of the file in the folder it is located in, but which
have since been deleted;

d) un-delete the temporary files AOO wrote while you were editing the file, and
then deleted. This will recover your file as it was when you last opened or
you last saved it.

If your file is opening as ###, it is damaged - possibly because of over-hasty
power off of the computer before the internal buffers in the hard drive had
written to disk. If it is asking for selection of an ASCII filter, it is also
most likely damaged and experience shows that you should not waste any time
with your existing file - it will have no usable content. Concentrate on the
recovery methods outlined in the tutorial.

Do these actions as soon as possible.

hi.

if you use windows newer than xp and recover to previous state, just
open properties of your file, then find previous windows in the
security tab and press okay.

if you need to change default encoding, just right click on your file
and find open with, then select openoffice calc.

it asks you about encoding an you can select any encoding that need.

hope that help, God bless you and his infinite mercy be for you.

spreadsheet file corrupted, need to recover data

2017-09-14 Thread Casey
Hello,

Just the other day, for no reason I can think of, my spreadsheet file
stopped opening. Upon trying to open it, it is trying to automatically
"import" text using the character set "unicode", rather than "Western
Europe Windows 1252". When I hover the mouse over the file (before trying
to open it), it shows 61kb size, so it seems like all my data is still on
it, but I cannot figure out how to restore this file so that I don't lose
all the important data on it. Can someone help me with this?

Thanks.
