Check there first. Otherwise, try a undelete utility such as Recuva or PhotoRec, -- Rory O'Farrell - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Yes I keep it updated. The files disappeared right after a recent update. Found one in the cloud but that was all. Re: Lost Files
My apologies for stating the obvious (if you are using a Mac), but if you have been using Time Machine you should be able to recover your lost files there, because TM is a backup app that also functions as an archive. Just go back to the last date before you lost the documents, i.e. select 'Enter Time Machine’ (from its icon in the menu bar) and scroll back to the required date, locate the files you've lost, and restore them. Warning: I’ve never had to do a bulk restore, I’ve only ever copied an older version of a file that I wanted to refer back to, so you should check the Apple Help to ensure you restore only what you want to, e.g. a selected folder?, without reverting other stuff to previous versions (you should be able to look up how to do that as easily as I can). If you haven't been using Time Machine you really should start using it now, so you have access to preserved copies of files if you need them in future. They can be lost from the Recent Documents list, but that is only a list of shortcuts to recently used files; the files still remain in the disk in the folders in which they were saved. It is likely that a Windows update may have erased your files. But before deciding that, use your operating system file search to look for one file whose name you remember. -- Rory O'Farrell - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

If that is null, the files are still on disk in the location in which they were saved and can be opened by using /File /Open, navigating to that location and opening each file individually, after which they will once again appear in Recent Files list. -- Rory O'Farrell - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

If you mean that the documents no longer show on OpenOffice's /File /Recent Documents menu item, this is only a shortcut to the documents on your computer. For whatever reason - usually an improper close down of OpenOffice, perhaps caused by a Windows 10 upgrade forcing itself on your computer - this shortcut list has been damaged/erased; fortunately the documents on this list should still exist in whatever location they were saved on your computer. It should be possible to start OpenOffice (perhaps by an entry on the Programs button?) then use the navigation buttons on the /File /Open dialog to navigate to the locations in which the files were saved. As you Open each of these files in /File /Open, they will once again appear on Recent Documents. It is unfortunately the case that any documents open at the time of such a forced Windows upgrade may be damaged, usually beyond repair. Use the methods in this Tutorial - How to find and un-delete AOO temporary files at https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71=85038] to attempt to find and recover such damaged files. If you are not familiar with computers, seek local informed help as soon as possible to employ the above methods and tutorial. -- Rory O'Farrell - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Because your computer crashed and not OpenOffice you need to find the solution within the file system of your Operating System. WHEN I GOT BACK ON LINE, I WENT BACK TO OPEN OFFICE AND ALL MY FILES WERE GONE. OpenOffice only maintain your document as long as you have it open in OpenOffice, after that it's your Operating System. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RETRIEVE MY FILES?? Yes there is a way, use the file manager of your Operating System. Because you didn't tell what you have done o bring your computer back on line it's hard to tell what to do. Did you for example have to reinstall your Operating System and or OpenOffice? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Ray, The folder(s) are not in openoffice, they are on you computer's hard drive. On my computer it is a folder called Documents then in various subfolders in that folder. Please share with us what operating system you are using so that we can provide more specific help. I don't know what folders he means or where I can find them in the new open office.
