Perhaps is has to do with how you click on the link. Word may open a
link by just clicking on it. However, OpenOffice seems to require you
holding down the Control key while clicking the link.

Try starting TaskManager ~(Ctrl Shift Esc) and kill all "soffice" processes
shown on TM's tabs. Then try to start OpenbOffice again.

Note the initial "s" in soffice"

Can you explain in more detail what you mean by "stopped working"?
You appear to be using Windows 10 and I am guessing you are double
clicking on document names and those documents are not opening.
Do any error or other messages appear? If so, what do they say?
Can you start the program (eg. Writer) from the Windows menu?
With answers to those questions we might be able to understand your
issued an suggest a solution.

The quick cure for this is to delete (if a new install) or rename (if you have
been using OpenOffice for some time and have customisation, such as user
dictionaries, the OpenOffice user profile.

Details of the User Profile for various operating systems
are given in

https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74=12426

If you are using Windows close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File
Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer
Address Bar and press Enter. Rename the "user" folder - "user.old" is a
good choice. Start OpenOffice.

This cures most spellcheck problems

There is no time limit on the program and no need to subscribe/resubscribe as
the program is free. Most likely your computer closed abnormally (crashed) and
there are left-over elements of the program running, which prevent it starting
correctly. If you are using Windows, start TaskManager (Ctrl Shift Esc) and
kill any "soffice" processes shown running on TaskManager's Processes tab
(Details tab if Win 10). Note these are called "soffice" with an initial "s".

When these are deleted OpenOffice should start up correctly.

The latest version (4.1.3) can be downloaded free of charge from
download.openoffice.org

You need to delete the folder org.openoffice.script.savedState. It is in the Saved

Usually, before opening a message attached to an e-mail, one needs to save the
attachment to the local hard disk so that OpenOffice can access it. e-mail
