I had corruption of the Hosted Engine due to a power failiure of all hosts
(Gluster).
My lab has no UPS.
You can create a snapshot via API , backup the snapshot and then delete it via
the API while the VM is working (no downtime).
Still, this approach won't work for Databases as you can

oVirt Simple Backup is nice but it only does Full backups.
Zipur (the code owner) says he might implement incrementals in the future.

Just adding my two cents: oVirt Simple Backup can handle XenServer -> RHV/oVirt
migrations on the GUI.
I’ve not tested it yet, but I will definitely trying this on the following
months.

we a re in the same situation as you. We tried vprotect but at the end, we used
the script provided in the python SDK example:

We adapt it.
Yes, we do backups but not host only.
