I think we should decide once for all what to do with packages not included in official distribution repositories. Currently we have various packages requiring external repos: - glusterfs-latest (shipped within ovirt-release, enabled) - epel (not shipped but there's a repo file that allow to just yum install epel-release for easyng the epel repo setup) - fedora-virt-preview (shipped within ovirt-release, disabled) - jpackage (not shipped) I think we should ship a single ovirt-dependencies.repo with all of the above repo enabled but restricting install to the -release rpm for that repo and specific packages required by our packages, nothing more. +1 that would really ease the setup process. but keep in mind, if I don't use gluster on a node I don't want to have gluster repos there. Re: [Users] ovirt-engine-dwh missing dom4j dependency
Maybe I didn't clarify enough: While I'm all for including all dependencies into some package so that you don't need to search for various packages I don't want to have installed all the packages from third party repos, so ovirt should just install jpackage /gluster /etc when I tell during installation or configuration that I want those. example: engine-setup asks me if I want gluster enabled, i answer no what should it do? imho: configure gluster repo, but disable it by default If I want to enable it at a later point in time I just can do it (maybe even via engine-setup?) same goes for dwh. Thanks for creating the BZ :) Am 28.03.2014 14:34, schrieb Sandro Bonazzola: but keep in mind, if I don't use gluster on a node I don't want to have gluster repos there. We do not want the setup to replace rpm/yum nor create explicit dependency in rpm based systems, it is enough we depend on version-lock plugin because of application not being able to support previous schema. Management of repo should be based on downstream tailoring, in this case ovirt-release package, to enable required repo for ovirt to be able to be installed.
