I didn't have time to check Tobias' tickets and PRs in detail but as far as I can see there are no API breaks in all discussed changes.so I don't see problem to include them even in 7.0.1. But since there will be another release before 7.0.0 then it is even simpler. @Maxim: we skipped RCs for 6.0.
