Hi, Yes I was thinking about something like this but with more complete Javascript frameworks (but I don't know very well JQuery in fact). Ext-JS and SmartClient offer lots of nice widgets with a sharp design. Pure Wicket also offer built-in widgets but not as rich/sharp as these frameworks... I know that adding a layer on top of Wicket will complexify stuff and it will be harder to debug but it seems to bring a new dimension to the user experience...
