Teradata Managed Services assumes broad operational responsibility for a
customer’s

Teradata data warehouse environment under contracted Service Level
Agreements,

transferring service accountability and technology control to our experts
when there is no

client owned support function, or a client needs to supplement his own
staff. There are

multiple DBA areas of specialization, including infrastructure and
production operations,

however the focus of this position is to provide Applications DBA services
in support of

ETL and BI development teams for a large Teradata customer with significant
in process

development projects.



Engagements typically last from one to three years and transitions to
subsequent clients

are usually identified 4-6 months in advance. Managed Services requires
skills similar

to PS consulting roles, however, the long term nature of our engagements
eliminates the

travel associated with typical consulting roles. Some assignments may
require on-call

night or weekend on call availability.



Summary Description:

The Managed Services Performance Analyst DBA is a Teradata trained
Consultant with a

proven track record of Teradata Professional Service engagements and a
history of

successful performance within a Managed Services role. This is a salaried
position

responsible for client delivery including oversite and co-ordination of
work with

Managed Services offshore DBA’s. This position requires a combination of
travel to

customer locations as well as work from a virtual office. This person will
work as part of

a database performance team and collaborate closely with customer
applications

developers and operational DBA’s in support of development projects and
specific tasks

that will be assigned to TD Managed Services. There will also be required
interface with

customer’s production DBA’s and our Global Consulting Center staff who
provide

offshore support. The ability address SQL job performance and understand
overall

Teradata system performance and features as well as communicate well,
determine

requirements, co-ordinate and assign work, advise customer on Teradata
development

best practices, perform physical data modeling, primary and secondary index
selection

and then ability to provide recommendations on optimization of code to TD
is required.



Basic Qualifications:

• 5 plus years experience in computer technology or related fields within
the last 8

 years.

• Must have Teradata experience working as a production infrastructure,

application or development DBA

• BS/BA degree in Business Technology, Computer Science, or Management

 Information Systems, Business Administration, Math, Statistics, or
Engineering

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office components and personal
computers (for

 generating the many reports required by the customer).

• Teradata Masters Certification

• Excellent problem solving skills with demonstrated experience managing
and

resolving work requests and change requests

• Demonstrated knowledge of Teradata tools and utilities, specifically:

• Database Administration

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience in Host software (MVS, VM etc)• Advance knowledge of Teradata,
UNIX, NT, mainframe operating systems

(VM/MVS, etc.)

• System Performance tuning and capacity planning experience, including

production and interpretation of PMCP Reports in order to determine causes
of

poor performing code

• SQL tuning and performance optimization

• Expert knowledge of Teradata Database optimization techniques

• Experience with translating logical models to optimal physical models

• Experience advising developers and development teams from design through

build phase
