Stanley did that tyre fit without modifying anything on the swingarm or the
placement of the axle washers?

You learn something every day. Let me know how that ME-880 works out. I
have spoken to Don and won't try one yet as my front tyre is a Super Venom
and is pretty new. He's not sure the ME-880 will work with the Avon, they
are pretty different in design.
Which front tyre do you have? or are you

Chris, I don't know
Many an R1 has been embarrassed by my lumbering, wallowing '99 Max in full
flight behind their bony little arses through some pretty tight corners.
Owning an R1 does not make you a Mick Doohan. Be careful "young man", never
underestimate the bike, its the rider who decides who will win in battle.
I had this tire and was very happy with it. It's very fat. It does fit,
doesn't rub, corners great, wears even better and is very good in the wet. I
think it's a great tire and when I get my next Max, it will be the tire I put
on it.

Chris, I don't know of anyone that uses a Michelin. If it will fit I
don't know. The reason I like the 880 it doesn't change in a transition,
gets alot more miles under alot of abuse, and sticks as well as the 591.
You've got a R1? Then you know the suspension fix. About the only other

I have a stock 98 Max with 99 stock rims and tires. My OEM Exedra has
lasted me 8500 miles. I am now forced to look for a new tire. I want
to buy the squarest, widest, most beefy looking muscle bike tire that I
can get. I don't care about cornering transition or the rear tire
sliding
Chris, a flat profile lends itself to causing a weave. Thats when going
in a straight line, no bumps or anything, and the rear of the bike
starts drifting side to side. A spooky feeling that on this bike isn't
needed. If your going to be narrow minded, which it already sounds like
anyway, you got

Wait a minute here!!! Did I miss something?? a few hours ago, you were the
"King" of sliding and drifting the rear end.
Now, you say it's a "Spooky" feeling???!!!

Is that the INS I hear knocking at your door? But seriously people have
complained about the tendencies of the max to move round alot at speed.
Getting rid of the flat profile helps in this.

Chris, tell you what. You sound like a prime candidate for a visit to
civitello. He can put a 15X8.0 wheel on the back with a 295/50-15 and
then you'll have the biggest tire possible. Of course you'll need to do
a chain drive, but what the heck, you'll have your tire!

Does anyone else run the michelin tarmac? I do and I love it. It's a 170/80
and *looks* much wider than the stock tire. Plus it hooks like like
crazy(again vs stock)!!

Old Man,
I've been reviewing V-max tires and I have kind of taken a liking to the
Michelin Tarmac 170/80 H15. Will this fit on a stock max? Has anyone
been happy with this tire? How does it look compared to the Exedra?
I am trying to find a tire that looks a little beefier than the stock
