Thanks again, Charlie! I'll asses the cover--if it seems super brittle, I'll
leave well enough alone. Otherwise I might pull it off and have a look. My
lower filters are in fine shape so far, but I appreciate
Hi Dan Weeks,
Now that you know about the potential for a brittle a/c cover, you might want to start
looking for a
younger one. Our '77 31' did have a brittle cover and for several years, I had been
very cautious
about removing it to clear leaves. During those same several years, I kept
from UV. Do you happen to know if Armor-All does anything to slow UV
degradation on the likes of these covers?

If the existingAc Crover is britthe why nit crover it with 2 layers of 4oz
fiber glas cloth using epoxy laminating resen. before attempting to remove it
leavimng it installed when glassing it will insure that it will not warp out
of shape remove the fastners 1st mask off the trailer . if done
If all (including myself) would wise up and paint these crovers that would
block out the Uv rays and the plastic parts would last a lot longer

Providing the paint didn't destroy the plastic immediately. Lacquer
solvent based sprays can be very bad for some
I'm curious too, Dan. I have the same air conditioner and will be reading
this string to find out more.

I have an armstrong roof air unit. Think it's original. Seems to be working
fine, but I wonder whether the coils should be cleaned periodically as with
home window air units, and if so, how to do this. ANyone? Thanks!
