Geoff, You are right when I added my backend info in the /etc/varnish/default.vcl . It is working correctly. Can you let me know what is going wrong even though I have mentioned by vcl, prudsys.vcl in /etc/default/varnish. It is still picking the default vcl. My /etc/default/varnish looks like
