Re: [vchkpw] vpopmail - roaming service

Like the domain in the rcpthosts file. If you turn off roaming users support, vpopmail will, by default, allow relaying to *only* those users listed in rcpthosts. The whole point of roaming users (pop-before-smtp, SMTP Auth, etc.), is to allow *authorized* users to send to domains *not* hosted on the local server. The original poster is looking for a way to limit roaming users to only using domains in rcpthosts/morercpthosts in the sender address (SMTP MAIL FROM) of messages. I don't know of any way to accomplish this without patching qmail-smtpd. In my opinion, it just isn't necessary. Forcing roaming users to only send from their local address won't limit the amount of email they send. They can still use any address in the From and Reply-To headers of their message. If a user is abusing your system by sending too much mail, switching to SMTP AUTH will allow you to check the Received headers for the account they authenticated with. -- Tom Collins - [EMAIL PROTECTED] QmailAdmin: http://qmailadmin.sf.net/ Vpopmail: http://vpopmail.sf.net/ Info on the Sniffter hand-held Network Tester: http://sniffter.com/
Re: [vchkpw] delivering a mail to every account
There was a discussion recently about delivering a message to every account on the server, and vpopbull was mentioned. One weakness of vpopmail seems to relate to users who forward all of their mail off-site-- it appears that vpopbull messages will still be delivered to their local mailbox, instead of being forwarded. Is there a work-around? Thanks, David Chaplin-Loebell
Re: [vchkpw] user not receiving messages
Hi, t wist wrote: I have a virtual user. The domain is set up in rcpthosts The domain is also set up in virtualdomains I used vadduser to set up the user They have the Maildir and subdirectories under /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com The only .qmail file in /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com is for .qmail-default. The content is the default line that ends with bounce-no-mailbox. When I send an email to the address, say [EMAIL PROTECTED], and I run qmaillastmsgs, I can see the message being received. However, it does not get dropped in the users mailbox. Also, there is not system user with the same name. I double-checked the locals file to make sure the domain wasn't in there, and it isn't. All of the accounts are pop3, we don't use system accounts. (if that helps). Any ideas on this at all? _ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
