[vchkpw] Problems with multi domains in vpopmail

2004-05-16 Thread Mário Gamito
Hi,

I've installed vpopmail, but i'm having problems with adding domains.
The first one i add works just fine.

From the second one on i get this error:
Signal 1 caught by ps (procps version 2.0.13).
Please send bug reports to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I've compiled vpopmail with --enable-many-domains=y

What can be wrong ?

Any help would be gratly appreciated.

Warm Regards,
Mário Gamito

The error says that a bug report has been generated. If
you can find it, please send it to the list because without more info your
problem is nearly impossible to pinpoint. Maybe in /var/log/messages, syslog,
mail, or other logs there is more info on your
problem

Looks like you have removed just about every authentication
lib there is while configuring. I can imagine that it dies
 this way
How do you authenticate to your server?

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to pose this questions, but it seems

So, i want to monitor SPAM and virus through qmailmrtg7.

Well, i'm unable to monitor both SPAM and virus.

RE: [vchkpw] Logs

2004-06-15 Thread Mário Gamito
Hi Ken,

qmailmrtg7 only works with multilog style logging directories.
It is looking to have a directory passed to it. Then it looks
for the files within the last 5 minutes using the @tai64
naming format along with the current file, and the individual
 timestamp entries on each line.
Does this means that is not possible to monitor SPAM and virus ?

 Hello!

Currently on our Qmail server cluster (3 servers scanning
SMTP traffic in and out) we're checking:

 relays.ordb.org
 bl.spamcop.net
 dnsbl.njabl.org
 opm.blitzed.org
 sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org
 blackholes.mail-abuse.org

via rblsmtpd. So far, we've noticed that Spamcop and Spamhaus
are the two most effective RBLs. ORDb, Blitzed, and
mail-abuse have not been as active as we'd hoped. We've also
not noticed an undue amount of overhead for our mail scanning servers.

What I'd like to know is what some of you other admins are
using -- are there any we are missing that are effective? Has
anyone found that one of the above is not providing any
 usefulness and could be dropped?

 Thanks! :)

RE: [vchkpw] What's the better Webmail for Vpopmail?

2004-07-27 Thread Mário Gamito
Hi,

Try squirrelmail.
It has more features, a lot of plugins and it is easy to restyle.
But if features that you want, IMP is the answer. Take no substitutes. But
it's a pain in the ass to restyle.

Even better: tell your users that sqwebmail may be ugly, but it's by far the
most secure and reliable.

Just my 2 cents of euro,

 Hi,

 I have used Netqmail 1.05 + SMTP Auth + Vpopmail 5.4.0 +
 SQWebmail 4.0.5.
But my users have talked about changing the webmail, mainly
because layout limitations and other resources like virtual
disk, support online for many languages, instant messages
when new emails are received, etc.

I look at SQuirelmail but it needs IMAP and I'd not like to
 install a new service.

I look also at Openwebmail but I didn't find a distribution
 integrated with QMail/VPopmail.
 Is there one?

Or are there other webmails more advanced than SQWebmail?

 Thanks,

[vchkpw] Alternative to qmail-autoresponder

2004-08-06 Thread Mário Gamito
Hi,

I think i've posted here before about this, but i can't get
qmail-autoresponder to work. It sends the vacation message to the original
sender, alright, but it doesn't deliver the original messagem from him.

qmail-send, logs shows that the message coming from the sender to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] is to be delivered at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
So, here is the trcky part: it's missing joe after the - and the message
is obviously not delivered.

Also, the original sender, besides the vacation message, gets another one
saying his message could not be delivered at @domain.com.

I got no answer from untroubled mailing list, nor qmail's.

Does anyone knows the whys of this ?

Or an alternative to qmail-autoresponder ?

I'm using vpopmail with qmail.
The vacation parameters set for qmail-autoresponer in joe's .qmail by
qmailadmin, are a complete mess. They just don't work as it is supposed to.

Any help would be appreciated.
I'm completly boggled :(

Following my signature is my joe's .qmail

Warm Regards,
Mário Gamito

joe's .qmail:
-
| qmail-autoresponder -c -n 100 /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com/joe
-

In /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com/joe i have message.txt file.

[vchkpw] Logging only with the account name

2004-09-17 Thread Mário Gamito
Hi,
I have this mail server with webmail - IMP - that authenticates users
through IMAP, in this case, courier-imap.

courier imap in turn gets the authentication credentials from vpopmail.
*I only have one domain*.
Now, this mailserver belongs to a costumer of mine that is a f* pain in
the ass.
Yesterday, he rang me to ask if it would be possible to login in the
webmail using only the account name, dropping the domain part, i. e.,
for instance, logging only with foo, instead of [EMAIL PROTECTED].

The webmail is correctly configured.
My question is: is it possible to configure vpopmail to accept only
foo for the login instead of [EMAIL PROTECTED] ?
Remember i only have one domain in the mail server.

Any help would be appreciated.
Warm Regards,

as Greg pointed out, with only one domain it should do this for you
automagically, however, it's best to be explicit, so put your domain into
~vpopmail/etc/defaultdomain and you will now be able to log into it without
the domain part of the email address.

Just curious, but why is it such a big deal to your customer that he use only

[vchkpw] vpopmail by interface

2004-12-16 Thread Mário Gamito
Hi,
I'm trying to use vqadmin, but i always get access denied when tried to
create a new domain / whatever.

I even got Apache running under vpopmail/vchkpw (bad idea, of course),
but no good.

What is exactly the right way to get vqadmin running and at the same
time using regular Apache's user and group ?

Any help would be apreciated.

Hi,

I used vadduser to set up the user

The only .qmail file in /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com is for

When I send an email to the address, say [EMAIL PROTECTED], and I run
qmaillastmsgs, I can see the message being received.

However, it does not get dropped in the users mailbox.
Also, there is not system user with the same name. I double-checked the
locals file to make sure the domain wasn't in there, and it isn't.

All of the accounts are pop3, we don't use system accounts. (if that
helps).

Any ideas on this at all?
