The softlimit command limits the amount of memory the program you
specify with is allowed to have access to. It keeps a program from
accidently taking all available memory.

Please keep all snickers to a minimum as this is my first attempt to
play with the configure script...but this should be easilly fixable if
it doesn't work.

Sounds like we already have a consensus.
I'll email MrSam and see if we can get your test code
into the courier-imap configure.in

Problem is the fact that the latest versions of vpopmail set the
~vpopmail/lib directory as 0711. Change the perms of the directory to
0755 and also the libvpopmail.a file to 0644. _ONLY_ keep this done for
as long as you're compiling courier imap. Once you're done, revert the
old perms.

Are you using Bruce Guntner (?)'s qmail rpm's? I remember there was a cron
job or something like that that would clober one of the files needed by
vpopmail. I dunno, I'm trying to remeber the exact issue and it was about a
year ago now...
Doubt that helps any...

enticate /etc/passwd users.
That is incorrect. This will allow people who would like to have ONE
virtual domain authenticate WITHOUT needing the @domainname.com. This
does NOT in any way authenticate /etc/passwd users. You need the
--enable-passwd=y option for this.
