I can't give you any specific ETA, because I can't be sure what my project load 
is going to look like from week to week, but this is the first item on the list 
of development for 5.5, minus a few bug and production fixes.  The LDAP module 
included in 5.5 should work, so feel free to use that.  If not, let me 
know/remind me of what the problem with it is.  When the new schema is 
available, there will be a utility provided to convert to the new schema.
