[vchkpw] using /etc/passwd
Dear all, I am migrating from sendmail my virutual hosting to qmail. But due to some problems I have been forced still to use the /etc/passwd to authenticate the virtual users. Is there any way out so that I can authenticate my virtual users from /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow instead of /usr/home/vpopmail/domain/passwd file ? Suggestions are highly appreciated.

If you are using courier-imap for POP3/IMAP access you can build and configure it to authenticate against the system passwd file. See the docs covering the various authentication modules. (Hint: look at authpwd and authshadow authentication modules). -- Aj. Systems Administrator / Developer
