Re: [vchkpw] vpopmail + freebsd Compile error

2003-09-09 Thread Ken Jones
Just so everyone knows. Tom Collins is attempting
to fork the vpopmail project. He refuses to let me
share ownership of the vpopmail and qmailadmin
projects on source forge. When I asked him to
add me as an owner on the project he said he
refuses now and at any time in the future to
allow me to share ownership.

Please note that http://vpopmail.sf.net/ is the primary source for

requests. A small group of developers is actively maintaining it there.

I suggest you try vpopmail-5.3.27 as I believe it contains fixes for the
problem that you describe
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vpopmail

[vchkpw] vpopmail + freebsd Compile error

2003-09-08 Thread mc 02
Hi,

Ive download vpopmail-5.3.26.tar.gz. I am trying to compile it on FreeBSD 4.8-R and i
get the following error:

before i edited the Makefile the following error occurs:

/usr/bin/install -c --owner=root --mode=0600 --group=root -D libvpopmail.a
/usr/local/vpopmail/lib/libvpopmail.a
usage: install [-bCcpSsv] [-B suffix] [-f flags] [-g group] [-m mode]
   [-o owner] file1 file2
install [-bCcpSsv] [-B suffix] [-f flags] [-g group] [-m mode]
   [-o owner] file1 ... fileN directory
   install -d [-v] [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner] directory ...
*** Error code 64

Stop in /usr/local/src/vpopmail-5.3.26.
*** Error code 1

I figured it probably because i dont have a group=root so i changed it to
--group=wheel and i got the following error:

/usr/bin/install -c --owner=root --mode=0600 --group=wheel -D libvpopmail.a
/usr/local/vpopmail/lib/libvpopmail.a
install: --mode=0600: Inappropriate file type or format
*** Error code 71

Stop in /usr/local/src/vpopmail-5.3.26.
*** Error code 1

Help?! what shd i do?
