You need to install the shared compatibility libraries. For example, on my Fedora Core 2 box: [EMAIL PROTECTED] opt]# rpm -qi MySQL-shared-compat Name : MySQL-shared-compat Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 4.1.4 Vendor: MySQL AB Release : 0 Build Date: Tue 31 Aug 2004 11:38:37 BST Install Date: Sun 05 Sep 2004 19:40:15 BST Build Host: build.mysql.com Group : Applications/Databases Source RPM: MySQL-shared-compat-4.1.4-0.nosrc.rpm Size : 2697506 License: GPL Signature : DSA/SHA1, Tue 31 Aug 2004 11:39:18 BST, Key ID 8c718d3b5072e1f5 Packager : Lenz Grimmer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> URL : http://www.mysql.com/ Summary : MySQL shared libraries for MySQL 4.1.4 and 3.23.58 Description : This package includes the shared libraries for both MySQL 3.23.58 and MySQL 4.1.4. Install this package instead of "MySQL-shared", if you have applications installed that are dynamically linked against MySQL 3.23.xx but you want to upgrade to MySQL 4.0.xx without breaking the library dependencies.
