I saw nothing about that topic in the doc, and google doesn't return anything useful. My Qmail+Vpopmail installation do accept mails sent in that format ie: rcpt to: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, but I have no idea in witch mailbox the message is going.
dotted decimal domains in brackets are handled by /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-whatever
it's mentioned in addresses.5 -- not sure if its more specifically documented elsewhere.
