Re: windows 7 sysprep???[Resolved]
Windows 7 Sysprep is very problematic and extremely slow. I recommend not using it by configuring the setting Patrick described. As of VCL 2.2.1, you should only have to do this for bare-metal images. Sysprep will be disabled for all VMware image captures as of VCL 2.2.1. The Unattend.xml file is a chore to configure. The file included with VCL has been configured using Windows 7 Enterprise. It may fail if other variants are used. NC State has been moving away from using Win7/2008 Sysprep wherever possible. We have removed access to our bare-metal Win7 base images, only allowing users to create VMware Win7 images. We have also converted some existing Windows 7 bare-metal images which had been using Sysprep to VM images using the VMware Converter utility. -Andy On 3/28/2011 12:07 PM, James Patrick Sigmon wrote: Issue Resolved. Make sure you run /usr/local/vcl/bin/vcld -setup When Prompted Click on 3 We are using product keys Click on 2 for Add product Key Click on 1 for Global or 2 for Local This will then give you a choice Choose a Windows product: 1. Windows XP 2. Windows Server 2003 3. Windows Vista Business 4. Windows Vista Business N 5. Windows Vista Enterprise 6. Windows Vista Enterprise N 7. Windows Server 2008 Datacenter 8. Windows Server 2008 Datacenter without Hyper-V 9. Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems 10. Windows Server 2008 Enterprise 11. Windows Server 2008 Enterprise without Hyper-V 12. Windows Server 2008 Standard 13. Windows Server 2008 Standard without Hyper-V 14. Windows Web Server 2008 15. Windows Server 2008 HPC 16. Windows 7 Professional 17. Windows 7 Professional N 18. Other For Windows 7 it's very picky about it's key. I went ahead and set all of my Windows 7 to the same key, I could do this due to our key working for all of these version. This fixed my Issue about not being able to image on Windows 7 Just select the number for example 19 Then copy and paste your product key. It will be saved as the congratulation for either globe or local whatever you selected.
