Just add new satellite to your diseqc.conf file and use rotorng plugin to
scan satellite or transponders.
Below is an example of my diseqc.conf. Here Sirius is on LNB1 output, LNB2
is Amos, LNB4 is HotBird. LNB3 is commented out, there is nothing on LNB3

I have added one more LNB to my sat dish pointing to AMOS S4.0W.

A newer vdr-1.7.xx can also cut recordings as standalone application.
$> vdr --edit foo.rec
If vdr patched with hlcutter, you will get same cutting speed.
