[vdr] FF card a/v sync + dvd plugin

[vdr] vdr Feature request
Hello Klaus, Some LNB's don't get a lock while switching to a special frequency. After a small change in the Frequency it works e. G. 12630-12629 ... Some receivers can set a frequency with a adjustable vallue in thei software. Is it posible to get such a feature in vdr? Perhaps in menu-settings-dvb?? MfG. Re: [vdr] vdr Feature request
If you want to address individual LNBs separately you can do so via the diseqc.conf file. Set Setup/LNB/Use DiSEqC to yes and make the appropriate entries in diseqc.conf. I will give it a try after reading the diseq.conf section in the manpage. Thanks Halim ___ vdr mailing list vdr@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vdr

Re: [vdr] softdevice audio problem. audio repacker issue?
Hi, Is there a patch available with your modifications? I don't think that it is necessary. Maybe you are right. The benefit of avoiding memcpys when repacking is done already during the TS to PES transformation is void as long as one cannot rely on getting repacked packets all the time. Due to the limited power of the Geode with 300MHz of the Reelbox, I've analyzed the TS-path in the vdr with gprof/oprofile and re-wrote the repacker from scratch and changed some of the related TS code in device/dvbdevice. It has a lot of optimizations: - The ringbuffer works with packet granularity (no single bytes), no extra sync checks are needed. Multiple memcpy of the same data is avoided as much as possible, especially for the video part. - The MPEG-sequence code search (ScanVideoPacket) is optimized for simple CPUs where the raw number of memory accesses and instructions is important (no memchr, that's slower on the Geode) - The video packer detects if the PES-flag in the TS header actually starts a new PES packet with I, P and B-frames at the TS beginning. After this detection, the search for start-of-picture is no longer done and the PES-flag only determines the separation. Since a lot of broadcasters are using the flag this way (especially the hingh bandwidth ones like ARD and ZDF in Germany) this saves a lot of CPU time. Services which don't allow this usually have low bandwidth anyway and are IMO not that important anyway (CNBC, Gods Channel, etc ;-) )... - There's one ringbuffer (and thus one data copying) eliminated in the way from the DVB-device to the TS receivers. Multiple ringbuffers in a row only give the illusion of better buffering... - The TS-dispatcher in cDevice::Action looks for bursts of TS-packets with the same PID and only does one Lock() and one Receive()-call for this burst instead for each single packet. Video data usually comes in bursts, so this saves a lot of unnecessary overhead. As the receiver function allows multiple packets (length parameter) this is perfectly legal. Unfortunately, some plugins don't respect the length parameter (older femon comes to mind, I don't know about the latest version). But that is easily fixed... The new repacker may have some issues with AC3 or some audio-only channels, but maybe it's worth to have a look at its code... svn co svn://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/testing/src/vdr-1.4/ -- Georg Acher, [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.lrr.in.tum.de/~acher Oh no, not again ! [vdr] ac3 handling in cutted vdr recordings
Hello, I have experienced a strange problem with vdr recordings after cutting them in vdr. My recording has e. G. two mpeg audio, 1 mpeg video and one ac3 audiotrack. Then I have tried to burn a dvd-video using replex |dvdauthor growisofs Problem: The ac3 audiotrack was not recognized by replex at the first time. Adjusting the first cuttingmark changed this behaviour. The problem does not exist any more if the first cuttingmark in vdr was placed at another position (using 4/6 on my remote). My question: Whats wrong here? I don't want to use another utility to cut vdr recordings to get a valid file for replex!!! Thanks have a nice day. Like it or not, VDR is a cathedral-style project: this has led to higher code quality and very good stability, at the expense of a slower development pace and the lack of some bleeding-edge features in the mainline. If you want those features, you can use a patch posted on this list (e.g. for hdtv, sourcecaps) or use a plugin (e.g. for teletext subtitles). Many distributions include those patches or provide a way for the user to easily appy them. Of course, you're also free to develop your own patches for new features: if they're good enough, I'm sure they'll eventually find their way into the mainline, as it happened, e.g., with the shutdown handling rewrite some time ago. You say you want to fork it: what would you accomplish with that? It's not as if the code would magically write itself. I've yet to see a single prospective developer say if it were forked I'd write X. (And, BTW, there's nothing forbidding him to write X in form of a patch and post it on this list.) On the other hand, by forking you'd probably lose Klaus, who has written by himself the majority of VDR code and knows it like no one else. Finally, I personally fail to see why people switching to MythTV is a bad thing; VDR is not a religion, I think everyone should use whichever software he thinks suits best his needs. I'm very happy with VDR and won't be switching anytime soon. Davide, I have been following VDR development since June 2000 and I have been subscribed to this list since January 2002. Hi, An easy diseqc configuration setup will be useful in core VDR (+1). The reelbox had such a feature in the past don't know if current versions do. Regards halim ___ vdr mailing list vdr@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vdr

hi, During playback you can pause it with down key. timeshift can be select in meinmenu. so He can simply disable the pause key. Regards Halim -- Halim Sahin E-Mail: halim.sahin (at) t-online.de ___ vdr mailing list vdr@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vdr
Re: [vdr] Can I disable pause live tv altogher?
hi, What's the difference? your approach needs patching vdr. Remooving the pause key from remote.conf does the same. HTH. It is causing a lot of trouble and I don´t reallly need that feature... I think removing these lines in vdr.c would do the trick: // Pausing live video: case kPause: if (!cControl::Control()) { DELETE_MENU; if (!cRecordControls::PauseLiveVideo()) Skins.Message(mtError, tr(No free DVB device to record!)); key = kNone; // nobody else needs to see this key } break; /Magnus H ___ vdr mailing list vdr@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vdr -- Halim Sahin E-Mail: halim.sahin (at) t-online.de ___ vdr mailing list vdr@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vdr

Hi Klaus, On Sa, Mai 09, 2009 at 10:04:59 +0200, Klaus Schmidinger wrote: Personally I don't find the key mapping that unintuitive. It makes sense to use the numbers in replaymode. Building a custom remote control with more keys is not practicable. Thanks for your work.
