[vdr] FF card a/v sync + dvd plugin

2006-11-02 Thread Halim Sahin
Hi list,

I tested a dvd with softdevice and the audio stuttering problem did not
occur.
With my FF-DVB card I can not watch a dvd and switch capters or use the
jump feature of the dvd-plugin.
What do you think about this.
Perhaps this can be the same Problem with
the dvd-plugin and the FF-DVB
card a/v sync stuff?
Best regards
Halim Sahin

[vdr] vdr Feature request

2006-11-12 Thread Halim Sahin

Hello Klaus,

Some LNB's don't get a lock while switching to a special frequency.
After a small change in the Frequency it works
e. G. 12630-12629 ...
Some receivers can set a frequency with a adjustable vallue in thei
software.

Is it posible to get such a feature in vdr?
Perhaps in menu-settings-dvb??
MfG.

Such a small deviation shouldn't be much of a problem.
Are you sure that's a probem with the LNB?

I have two LNB's connect to a FF Card.
One LNB needs such a modifikation in the used frequencies.
In some cases vdr switches to the unmodified one but
its taking more time.

Try Setup/LNB/Low|High LNB frequency (MHz).

But this affekts all LNB'S in my setup?

If you want to address individual LNBs separately you can do so
via the diseqc.conf file. Set Setup/LNB/Use DiSEqC to yes and
make the appropriate entries in diseqc.conf.

I will give it a try after reading the diseq.conf section in the
manpage.

The mentioned card is not listed at dvb-wiki on the linuxtv.org

 synchronization logic.

ACK.

That means it demultiplexes its input (evtually transforms it to
 mpeg-1/2),
then synchronizes it, and multiplexes it to pes. That means the FF-Card
 receives a synchron stream.

Check your cpu-load during mplayer-playback.
Mplayer does not transcode something to mpeg1/2 etc because the cpuload
is
near 0.

[vdr] vdr error on turksat 42

2007-01-24 Thread Halim Sahin
Hello,

In my channels.conf there are the channels:

atv;Service Provider:12633:v:S42.0E:4800:308+8179:256=eng:0:0:1:1:1:0

After switching to the second channel, vdr changes the name and
providername of the first one. llike this:

SAMANYOLU TV;STV:12633:v:S42.0E:4800:308+8179:256=eng:0:0:1:1:1:0
SAMANYOLU TV;STV:11951:v:S42.0E:8800:300:301=tur:0:0:1:1:48:0

I found more channels in my list with the same problem.
Perhaps they are created with wrong values that causes vdr to change
thair names
Oh yes I know the option menu-settings-update channels
But I want tell you again that the channelnames were not broadcasted
wrong.
Channel one shows its right name until the user switches to another
channel.
The channellist shows now wrong names for channel 1.
If I switch back to it vdr corrects these wrong names.

whether the data is broadcast wrongly, or VDR does something wrong

I made some debug output after updatechannel.
The vallues of pn ps pp semems to be correct for me.

[vdr] ts continuity error

2007-02-09 Thread Halim Sahin
Hello,

My problem was not the audiorepackager(xxx).
I found some threads about these error in vdr-portal and
modified vdr to get some more debug output.
There were a lot of ts continuity errors reported through syslog.
My machine has a athlon xp 1500 cpu and runs on a asrock mainboard with
sis chipset. The errors are shown after recording some minutes on all
channels. I tested to record over nfs to check the harddisk but that did
not help.
I tried it with vdr-1.4.5 without any plugins and patches etc.
Now I have no ideas what I can try.

The caudiorepackager errors are perhaps a result of dropped
bytes before???

My card is a ff dvb-s 2.3 from technotrend.
I do not currently use a cam.
Last test-firmware and different drivers tested with no success.

((Please help)

Best regards

[vdr] ff card tt dvb-s 2300

Hello,

I am getting ts continuity errors in vdr with my tt 2300.
Since 3 weeks I am trying to optimize my system.
Now there is the Question of signal Problems.
I did not have any problems with my other telestar receiver so I did not
check the signal before.

Re: [vdr] ff card tt dvb-s 2300

2007-02-21 Thread Halim Sahin
Hello,

I have similar values (tt 2300):
 status 1f | signal aef8 | snr d66e | ber | unc | FE_HAS_LOCK
 status 1f | signal aef4 | snr d680 | ber | unc | FE_HAS_LOCK
 status 1f | signal aefb | snr d62f | ber | unc | FE_HAS_LOCK
 status 1f | signal aef1 | snr d62f | ber | unc | FE_HAS_LOCK

Are you sure this is a signal problem? Are you getting these problems at all
 transponders?
Try to check dependency of errors on bitrate of video/audio.

HMM what do you mean?
I am getting these errors on all transponders.
Sometimes there are no errors for 15 minutes.
Sometimes there are errors for 4 minutes etc.
I read a lot of stuff in vdr-portal and tested many driver firmware
combinations.
The last thing was the signal but if you are right and these femon
output lines
are ok I have no ideas what to test now.

Again my skystar2 in my other pC works fine.
The telestar receiver works fine only the tt card doesn't.
Please help.

Are you using for output some sw decoder like softdevice, xine etc. or are

Which background mode does you use?
If it's image, try to use black.
There is still some bug in firmware which causes the stillpicture

The backgroundmode was the Problem I reported a few days ago.
If I switch to Livemode everything works nearly ok.

In livemode the first two seconds were skipped but nothing of the other

   necessary.

Maybe you are right. The benefit of avoiding memcpys when repacking is
done already during the TS to PES transformation is void as long as one
cannot rely on getting repacked packets all the time.

Due to the limited power of the Geode with 300MHz of the Reelbox, I've
analyzed the TS-path in the vdr with gprof/oprofile and re-wrote the
repacker from scratch and changed some of the related TS code in
device/dvbdevice. It has a lot of optimizations:

 - The ringbuffer works with packet granularity (no single bytes), no extra
sync checks are needed. Multiple memcpy of the same data is avoided as much
as possible, especially for the video part.

 - The MPEG-sequence code search (ScanVideoPacket) is optimized for simple
CPUs where the raw number of memory accesses and instructions is important
(no memchr, that's slower on the Geode)

 - The video packer detects if the PES-flag in the TS header actually starts
a new PES packet with I, P and B-frames at the TS beginning. After this
detection, the search for start-of-picture is no longer done and the
PES-flag only determines the separation. Since a lot of broadcasters are
using the flag this way (especially the hingh bandwidth ones like ARD and
ZDF in Germany) this saves a lot of CPU time. Services which don't allow
this usually have low bandwidth anyway and are IMO not that important anyway
(CNBC, Gods Channel, etc ;-) )...

 - There's one ringbuffer (and thus one data copying) eliminated in the way
from the DVB-device to the TS receivers. Multiple ringbuffers in a row only
give the illusion of better buffering...

 - The TS-dispatcher in cDevice::Action looks for bursts of TS-packets
with the same PID and only does one Lock() and one Receive()-call for this
burst instead for each single packet. Video data usually comes in bursts, so
this saves a lot of unnecessary overhead. As the receiver function allows
multiple packets (length parameter) this is perfectly legal. Unfortunately,
some plugins don't respect the length parameter (older femon comes to mind,
I don't know about the latest version). But that is easily fixed...

The new repacker may have some issues with AC3 or some audio-only channels,
but maybe it's worth to have a look at its code...

  Is this a known problem?

It's a problem if your shutdown script doesn't return ;-)

Sorry but I am not able to get vdr do a clean shutdown.
What do I need to insert after a nvramwakeup to return to vdr correctly?

  Can I insert a
   Setup.Save();
before SystemExec(cmd); in vdr.c to solve this??

Sure you can - but it would be better to let your shutdown
script return to VDR and let VDR end normally - in which case
 it also stores its settings.

My vdr 1.4.7 does not a normal end if I give -s /path_to_skript.
Thanks
Halim

[vdr] firmware problems - /tmp/dvb-ttpci-01.fw

2008-01-10 Thread Halim Sahin
Hello List,
I have several problems with the latest available dvb fw.
Dvd plugin produces dropouts and asyncs, mp3 plugin skips some seconds at the
begining of tracks files etc.

Today I downgraded the fw to /tmp/dvb-ttpci-01.fw-2622 form linuxtv.org
and the errors don't occour any more.
I think this fw has several problems with high bitrates on e. G. German
channels like Das erste or ZDF.
This was the reason why I am using the latest testfirmware.

Is any updated firmware available wich don't has such problems?
Thanks
Halim

The distributors can use this patch too so it is no need for a stable

[vdr] ac3 handling in cutted vdr recordings

2008-04-02 Thread Halim Sahin
Hello,
I have experienced a strange problem with vdr recordings after cutting
them in vdr.

My recording has e. G. two mpeg audio, 1 mpeg video and one ac3
audiotrack.
Then I have tried to burn a dvd-video using replex |dvdauthor
growisofs

Problem:
The ac3 audiotrack was not recognized by replex at the first time.
Adjusting the first cuttingmark changed this behaviour.
The problem does not exist any more if the first cuttingmark in vdr was
placed at another position (using 4/6 on my remote).

My question:
Whats wrong here?
I don't want to use another utility to cut vdr recordings to get a
valid file for replex!!!

Thanks
have a nice day.

Like it or not, VDR is a cathedral-style project: this has led to
higher code quality and very good stability, at the expense of a slower
development pace and the lack of some bleeding-edge features in the
mainline. If you want those features, you can use a patch posted on this
list (e.g. for hdtv, sourcecaps) or use a plugin (e.g. for teletext
subtitles). Many distributions include those patches or provide a way
for the user to easily appy them. Of course, you're also free to develop
your own patches for new features: if they're good enough, I'm sure
they'll eventually find their way into the mainline, as it happened,
e.g., with the shutdown handling rewrite some time ago.

You say you want to fork it: what would you accomplish with that? It's
not as if the code would magically write itself. I've yet to see a
single prospective developer say if it were forked I'd write X. (And,
BTW, there's nothing forbidding him to write X in form of a patch and
post it on this list.) On the other hand, by forking you'd probably lose
Klaus, who has written by himself the majority of VDR code and knows it
  like no one else.

Finally, I personally fail to see why people switching to MythTV is a
bad thing; VDR is not a religion, I think everyone should use whichever
software he thinks suits best his needs. I'm very happy with VDR and
  won't be switching anytime soon.

Davide, I have been following VDR development since June 2000
and I have been subscribed to this list since January 2002.

I could not have put it better than you did above.
I totally agree with everything you said.

 Carsten.

 0. Stop this discussion.
 1. Read the GPL.
 2. Understand the GPL.
 2. Clone the existing VDR code.
 3. Give it a new name to make clear, that it is not VDR.
 4. Make it better (if you can).
 5. Last but not least: Maintain it for 8 years or longer.

  Hi,

On my machine sxfe wasn't able to reconnect after a vdr restart any way.
I am interested to know if this is a setup problem or another problem in
   current devel branch of xineliboutput.

Autoreconnect of remote fe's would be really useful :-).
   BR.

The --reconnect switch does not do this?

No :-(.
