Re: [vdr] vdr 1.7.21 and no audio, video or epg
Hi, Does anyone have and idea, because I am lost in space ... ;) Did you try to powercycle your system? Maybe the S2-6400 locked up? I had this from time to time with my own S2-6400. In order to debug this: What has changed since the last reboot? Regards, Roland ___ vdr mailing list vdr@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vdr
Re: [vdr] Replacing aging VDR for DVB-S2, again
Reason I haven't tried VDR 1.7 yet, and that I'm here again, is the GT240 graphics. I could only obtain a 512MB model, which I did even though the supplier said it will be no good for HD on a 107cm LCD TV. Was he trying to sell me more expensive graphics, or that actually makse sense? Thanks. Well, a GT240 might not be sufficient to play recent games on a Full HD resolution, but that's not what you're up to. Even a G210 is fast enough for FullHD h264 decoding unless you want to use the most sophisticated deinterlacers. A GT240 should do for anything you want to do with your VDR. Best regards, Roland -- BOFH excuse #212: Of course it doesn't work. Re: [vdr] TT Premium S2-6400
What I would like to know: with the new S2-6400 card does VDR works as rock solid as worked with FF DVB-S cards? This means for me: - OSD and remote are working instanly - even if I'm watching a HD playback, fast forward (and backward) works as expected - output device does not crash - I can leave the whole system to work for weeks and to be operated by my family, and it always will work as expected (as a VDR + FF DVB-S combo does) Well, it might be a little early to answer these questions thoroughly since the very first cards reached the end-users yesterday, but the first comments sound quite promising. According to this post[1] by spitzb, the card seems to work quite well. Here's a brief translation: There are no artifacts while zapping around. The picture turns black, returns and that's it. On 1080i channels there is sometimes a still picture for 0.5 seconds, but afterwards the picture gets fine again immediately. Zapping intervals are around 1-2s from HD to HD and below 1s from HD/SD to SD channels. Moving fast forward and backwards in recordings is working flawlessly including moving the cut-marks, sometimes there are a few block artifacts. All in all it feels 'rock stable'. The picture is upscaled to 1080i and looks much better than on eHD (Reel). Hope this helps. Re: [vdr] TT Premium S2-6400
I just looked at the pdf on this card. Euro only as it only supports PAL. That's no problem for me as a euro resident ... Also, I just got my new 32 TV in dec and noticed that most where 1080p. There where few new 1080i. The local TV dealer said companies are discontinuing 1080i. The resolution your TV is capable of is irrelevant if no one is providing this resolution over satellite. At the moment there are no broadcasters sending 1080p. Some do 720p, some 1080i. The signal processor on the S2-6400 supports 1080p at 24/25/30 fps. As far as I read some TV broadcasters (e.g. BBC) are thinking about broadcasting in 1080p50, but this is nothing that comes around the corner next week. The S2-6400 will be capable of handling any signal that is sent all over Europe for the next couple of years. That's sufficient for me. If you want to buy something that lasts forever, you should rather buy a house, not computer hardware. Many new TV's even upscale to 120 or 240 creating interpolated frames. I cannot see why this should be an issue. Those TVs multiply the frame rate even when you connect a BD-player. This is done for a improving the image on fast movements. It has nothing to do with the incoming signal in any way. This card only goes to 1080i. It's already outdated. See above. Who cares? To the original poster: I guess ? ?? is not your real name. It would be nice if you would use at least a nickname. That's not his fault. Use a utf8 capable mail client and you will see that his real name is written in cyrillic letters (as his email address may suggest). Re: [vdr] sourcecaps probelm!
Hi, I should use sourcecaps in my vdr box and because I didn't find proper patch for vdr 1.4.0, I've used BigPatch instead. Have you tried the SourceCaps-patch that is included in BigPatch? http://bigpatch.vdr-developer.org/Patches%20included%20in%20BP/SourceCaps-1.3.39.patch I guess it still works with VDR 1.4.x when the current BigPatch still uses it.
