Bought a Raspberry Pi and am trying that with Openelec, and that seems
to work
pretty well as a client. Quite a cheap solution.

I'm also using this solution on one of my vdr clients, but of course
there is one limitation: you can only playback MPEG2 recordings, no
MPEG4 nor HD.
