At least Hoochster says in his HowTo (for myth this time) that "..CoreAVC will 
only run in 32bit mode. So if you are running 64bit Linux, then you will need 
to setup a 32bit Chroot to compile Mplayer with the patches. This Howto does 
not cover that, but if you reference the Wiki site at the top, there is a 
pre-compiled dshowserver binary for 64bit that will help. You will still need 
the 32bit setup for mplayer
