How
many tapes do you have? Initially, there is a 2 stage process to this - the 1st
stage normally takes around an hour or so (give or take) but the 2nd stage can
take between 12 - 24 hours - it depends on many factors, including speed of the
drive.

I have not used it with NetBackup, however I have seen it used by other
applications against tape libraries. It may in fact be the other way
round - the SCSI command set includes (for some but not all libraries) the
init element status (with range). Robtest, being a generic utility, is

Does anyone have any experience with monitoring NBU with
MOM (Microsoft Operations Manager?) I suppose I could
have MOM comb the log files, but that would take a while to setup.
Any tips / tricks or ideas for monitoring your activity queue and general

Good timing! I'm going to a kinda cheerleading session for MOM and SMS.
It would be an interesting leverage, if we implement.

Hi All,
I have asked the following question...I have noticed something I am not

it is important or not for speed! Serialization for this autoloader is

bppllist only helps if you only use calendar-based scheduling.
Speaking of Calendar vs frequency, how does everyone do their end of
month backups? / End of year? Do you use calendar and schedule or
frequency? I've got two types of policies here, one where they've set

I run all frequency based scheduling and this is a sample output from
bppllist. This shows that my incrementals for this job run Monday through
Friday between 03:00:00 and 06:00:00. The output of this script is
dependent on the number of policies and their configuration though.

My longer backup window remark referred to my experience of backup

For example, I have 5 tape drives for backups and multiplex 6 streams
