We SUSPEND all tapes as they are ejected from the robot after the
overnight backups.
That way, if we have to bring them back on site for a restore, NetBackup
will not try to append further backups to them. We had many cases where a
tape was put back into the robot for a restore (physically

Hi Atif
I would start with checking what the disks where the db is located should
could deliver. Then I would do a backup to /dev/null (assuming unix) to
eliminate the recieve end bottleneck.
Have you tried to allocate more channels ?

Yesterday, I was trying to get a BMR image of one of our Linux Oracle
servers. Currently, we are doing nightly database backups to disk via
RMAN, and then NBU backs up the system, including the db backup. All
backups are done while the databases are live, so I have to exclude
several
If you want to exclude the entire directory you need to end the line
with a / for example u02/oradata/bnrbuild/. At least that's what a quick
glance at the manual implied (or I inferred) :)

Which manual? I've been scanning through PDFs this morning and haven't
hit it yet.
Thanks, I'll be trying this shortly.

To: Brooks,
Basically that's the difference. When a tape is frozen, after it
expires, it stays frozen and unavailable. (the data on the tape will
expire, don't freeze tapes to keep data around) A suspended tape
becomes available for use again after the data expires. Suspend tapes
that you don't want to
Title: Searching mailing list
All,
It has been too long and/or I am getting too old J, how do I search the mailing list for previous questions and answers?
Failing that, or in addition to, does anyone know the meaning of the following message generated by bpimmage spangroups?
could not
Not sure about searching as I archive all e-mails and search them that way.
However I think you are looking for the bpimmedia command not bpimmage. It sounds like the command can not find Media 003115. Check to see if your catalogs are consistent and verify the status of Media ID 003115.

Can anyone tell me if they've used slash-less entries for directories?

Are the file systems OCFS instead of ext2/3? We ran into all kinds of

FYI -
We are running NB 5.0 MP3 and running Vaulting. When we brought tapes
back onsite to test SQL DB restores (as we have nothing else to do
ever), we found that Vaulting would remove the tape even if the restore
was running during the scheduled Vault run. We also found that NB would

Go to your i2K admin console. Under setup, go into the device access list.
Ensure that you have enable the server to see the robot controller on the IO

Also, you don't mention if you are using the partitioning software or not.
Are you trying to run multiple robot partitions on the i2K?
