Hi.
I have installed a new NB 5.0 server
with a single tape drive. I am able to see the drive through NB.
Also, i am able to configure a sample backup and run successfully.
However, i am able to take any more backups on the tape, actually the tape
is not mounting on the drive. In the activity
Hello, I´m new in the block.
Regarding your problem I do have the same scenario as you. The trick is to add NDMPlicense on your NetBackup (BP) server. It should solve the problem.
In the veritas support webpage look for Veritas Netbackup 4.5for NDMP. I know you might have a newer version of BP

You should read the Media Manager manual available either with you software
or on line and then post questions after that. Single drive and tape stacker
configurations are well documented.

I have this issue occasionally...
Most often you need to re-mount the tape. You can
also check your master server properties and make sure that backups can write
different retentions on the same tape (if this is the issue.) Also, I
would turn on the option to not allow backups to span

Best place to start is verifying the tape is in or known by
Netbackup :-)

I am sure the originator was looking for suggestions on helping solve the
issue, rather than reading the manuals, which we all know does not cover
every single problem associated with single drive backups!

My understanding is that the very latest DataONTAP (7.1.1) and NetBackup 6
versions have finally addressed the problem of sharing the drive. However
I also thought I read that with NetBackup 6 the drive if on the server no
longer needs to be dedicated to NDMP anyhow - what was broken was the

Two robotic control hosts, only this one is having a problem.

Hi
Not familiar with Unix, but got a Robotic Library that recently
had 2 new tape drives installed and I configured using the NBU Device
Wizard.
NBU sees the devices all ok - set the storage unit for 2 drives
and kicked off a full backup.
Enabled BPTM Logging. I keep getting

Just putting the drives in wouldnt
make them available to the OS (HP-UX). You can cheat and simply reboot the
HP-UX host or you can do insf e to make it install the devices.
ioscan fn will show
you the hardware your HP-UX sees. Make sure the drives dont show as UNCLAIMED
Title: Backup Windows 2003 server in another domain

What do I need to have in place to backup a Windows 2003 server that is not in the same Windows domain as the Netbackup 5.1 MP3 Master Server?

It should work as long as they are on

And, you can ping the client from
the master and media servers, and client to master and media and there
are no

NetBackup doesn't care about Windows domains - it cares about DNS. Put

I can get information in a script using both of the commands below, butI was hoping for one command to give me
the tapes I used and whether it got full.
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpimagelist -media -U -hoursago 72 gives me the tapes used

The plot thickens a bit here.
We had to have a whole building power outage so had to
bring everything down. When we brought it back up there were a few issues (no
policies or settings were actually changed to my knowledge) but were fixed but
strangely this inconsistency has
