Hello
colleagues, when we perform flashbackup 1TB file system with large (up to
32GB) files, bpbkar creates file system map for 2 hours. We are using
nbu_snap based snapshot. File system type is ufs. Is it normal delay
orit can be tuned? Whether
converting to vxfs can help us to increase
Hi,
The path is correct, but I suggest you to stay in 5.1 for a few months.
5.1 is more stable than 6.0. Wait at least until MP5.
Before you do the final step (5.1 6.0) ask from Veritas support to check the
consistency of netbackup catalog
You must run the command to convert the images to
The easiest way is to find the size of /usr/openv/netbackup/db. This dir is the
99.5% of the catalog size

you wont believe it but I'm still investigating the master server hostname change and need some advice as to where else something could go wrong. Now i know this is possible and everyone mentions that Symantec PS should be pulled in
I get 84 errors on DSSU when the disk is full (can't get staged off).
Check to make sure that your disk is not filling up during the backup. It
may have space when you look at it, but see if it had space at the time the
backup ran.

Just disable the service before you reboot. Then NB won't start until after
you do the maintenance.

Hi, Ive done this many times.
You are correct.
You must run the bpimage command before you move the database.
Then you can move the image dir to the new server.
Also you must move the files: mediadb, voldb, pooldb, ruledb. The vmglob is
not needed. Check the vm.conf and bp.conf.

That's great info , much appreciated
Quick Q ,how did you over come the tapes being overwritten in the new
system, or as you have moved all db's the new system recognises the
media as if it where its own?

If you have the services down during the copy and move the voldb, pooldb
from the master and mediadb from all media servers (and the master) there is
no problem with the tapes.
It will be good to logically move the tapes out of the robot before move the

question , if I issue

or does this in fact point to the
Hi Yusuf

Another method is to use the bpsyncinfo commad which will give you
information about the paths being backed up by your catalog backup. You can
then use that to do du -sk on those paths

I am assuming that when you said you
restart the services, you mean that you do a netbackup stop and a netbackup

do you still see the message queue? If you do, you should use ipcrm to remove

Guys:
I am in the midst of
trying to import images on a remote disk unit (Data Domains). We have a separate
NBU 6 server at the BCP site. The data was backed up in our production
environment. We used the bundled replication software (within the arrays) to
replicate the data to the BCP
Are the datas thar are being
replicated of the NetBackup catalog? If yes you don't need to import the
images

Hi,
I'm not sure about the command, but you can go to the windows GUI (or java) and
see the properties of all libraries
The default installation has one server for the voldb. I don't see why someone
will change it.

I never done that but and you have to test it first.
Move the image directory to the new master server. Keep a copy of mediadb. This
file must be in the same place after the changes
Do the changes and run an inventory. All tapes of the remote sites will be new
tapes for the new master.
Then
I think that vmglob -listall -java command, shows that you wants.
