I've just received library with LTO4 drives for eval.
Anybody has eval that already?
I have T2000 server, running Solaris 10. I am waiting to get IBM Java
SDK for Solaris from my vendor, which can not be downloaded as I was
told.
Has anybody used IBM EKM software?
Any thought much appreciate
Dear Abhishek,
May be you have left robtest running in your environment due to which drives
went into AVR mode.

Nice try, but I hope nobody follows the template below. Having been heavily
involved in a Windows to Solaris migration back in 3.4, I can tell you it's
a lot more complicated than this. If you have to ask for how to do this
migration, honestly, you don't have the skills to complete it.

It doesn't matter where the media is from as long as it's LTO standard.

Someone replied and said it should work so I just tested it. You can
indeed copy from 5.1 to 6.0. Just make sure you go into the policy and
make any changes for the storage unit and/or volume pools.

Is it possible to copy the directory for a policy from the

Yes HP Media will work in an IBM drive and visa-versa. LTO is an
independent hardware standard that all manufacturers must adhere to and
qualify for. If you bought name brand media and it didn't work in a
known working drive from a different manufacturer I'd return that media
to the manufacturer f

Thank you Jason for the vocabulary. I'm reading up on RPO/RTO.

So that means the IBM LTO3 Drive can even read/write HP LTO3 and HP LTO2 tape
but read only for HP LTO1.
My main concern here is becoz the tape drive is from IBM but the media is from
HP.

Has anyone encountered ACS Status = 29 codes in /var/adm/messages.
After a backup finishes, the media is unable to mount. It's not just
one drive so I don't think it's the drive.

Sun is pushing the OpenSolaris for Intel pretty hard. I don't know if

Right but there is Solaris for Intel which is little-endian.

Mike,
Unfortunately if they existed they would be like gold dust and in turn
Symantec would be out of pocket. I pretty much figured it out for

If you do decide to go down that route I would strongly suggest you

Not sure what version of NB you are using, but with NB5.1 we use VBR
only for month-end stats.
We don't find any real use other than that. If we had to pay for another

I think the out-of-the-box reports are pretty good and we do very little

can I do a redirect restore for raw partition backup? Already tried the

it failed.
The manual said it can be done, but didn't tell how it can be done.. :(
