Hello.
Having a look at the Activity Monitor, I see that there are only 34
Jobs listed, with the oldest job from 03/07/2008.
I'm using the 6.0 MP4 Java GUI on Solaris.
Why are there only so few jobs listed?
Thanks,
Alexander

Eric,
Is full client auth overkill?
Depends the level of security desired. If you want to disallow
Root/Administrators from doing local backup and restore on client systems, then
you would need complete NBAC.

If you are using Ex2k3, then why bother with Mailbox backups? Why are
you not using the Built-in tools to help you move away from BLB ??

Not sure why this thread is getting split apart on the replies. I advised him
that there is a VSS update rollup he might look at. More info here if you are
interested:
We've seen it and it appears to be the drive itself (LTO-1/Ultrium).
FYI: This corrupts the backup so when you try to restore later it will
give you messages about bad tar headers. Do NOT rely on this backup
even if you later see 0 exit status.
We even had one drive that it appeared it

You may have driver installation problems with Win2k3.
If you run into problems you have to ask a special patch form Microsoft, or
wait for Sp3.

ok, so we found an interesting issue now with our upgrades. Right now our
master/media server is experiencing issues with hot catalog backups (to
tape). Here are some interesting, fun facts:
1. our master server is an aix box with multiple interfaces
2. its an upgrade from 5.1mp5 to 6.5.1
3.
I've seen the external event message before here, and it was due to SCSI
reserve not being set on the drive, allowing another host to send
commands to the drive while the backup was being written to the tape.
But this was back in the 3.4 days.

Clients don't run daemons, the necessary processes are started when the
server connects to the client via inetd (or xinetd in the case of
linux).
It should connect on the bpcd port, #13782. Telnet from your master
server to your client on this port and see if you get a prompt of sorts.
