I don't recall the details as it has been some time ago. We didn't really spend a lot of time troubleshooting. Once we saw RMAN issues happening right after the NBU master (and all the Media Servers) had been upgraded we decided it made sense to upgrade the clients that were running RMAN backups

No it isn't the C++ version. Most windows servers do not have C++ installed on them. The server works ok now that it had a complete uninstall reboot and a new install. There must have been a corrupt registry entry or file. That's what I get for doing remote installs on patches. Doug Preston
