I've run into a customer or two that has. It works, to say the least.
However a better way, and cheaper way would be to just do a synthetic backup
(ideally with dedupe) of the CIFS/NFS shares themselves.
You dont have to buy the expensive accelerator head, you eliminate NDMP
licenses, and
I have seen this, and had to restart all services and kill any running
processes.
Seemed to do the trick.

There is no OST functionality with NetApp. NetApp wants you to buy more
storage, and snap everything, to their storage. There is no need for backup to
them.
As for Falconstor, I've yet to see any customer with it. And I see a lot of
customers a week across many states.

I was just wondering if there is anybody running 7.0 in production on an
AIX master server. We need it mostly for the 2008 support. We are
currently running 6.5.5.
Thank you,

It may, but I want to go to 7.0. I am dealing with a ~2 week recurring
problem on 6.5.5, and nobody can tell me if it is addressed in 6.5.6. I
have come to realize that AIX seems to lag behind in support, and wanted
to know if there was anybody else running 7.0 on it.

Baumann,
Where can I get just the Admin GUI for NBU7 on linux? Is it prepackaged
as a separate file in the NBU7 server install like client installers
are? For some reason X forwarding isn't working off this test machine so
I want to try it locally.

All that I have right now is a symptom. We have a hourly script that
utilizes vmquery to count the amount of scratch tapes, and sent the
results to a mailbox. If I leave the master server up for more than 2
weeks (I haven't determined the exact amount of time), my hourly e-mail

After months of working an issue with Symantec, they're recommending that
I upgrade from my current 6.5.4 to 6.5.6. Frankly, when we upgraded to
6.5.2, 6.5.3, and 6.5.4 to resolve an issue, we've been bit with something
else that didn't work quite right, so we're more than a little gun-shy.
Hello,
I had install it at two of my customers, No problem so far.
The first client has a windows 2003 master server and some windows and linux
media servers ans the second has a HPUX master with many solaris,HPUX and
AIX servers.

Almost totally ignoring your questions, I'll offer that while NetApp has a
dedup capability, I'm unaware of an OST plugin.
We have a nice pair of Quantum 6550s using NetBackup 6.5.5 and OST ... and
are happy customers.
After using NetBackup Vault to duplicate backups to tape for off-site, OST
No problems here. Solaris Master, and I upgraded the Solaris Clients as
well. Windows clients are a mix of 6.5.5 and 6.5.3.
