Yes, you can list 8 volumes.
Putting a space after . (dot) is not adviced.
Getting or not getting a pop-up is ok. It will not affect your operations.
Your restore seems to be slow. But it may happen if your initial drive was
highly fragmented.

Hello Simon,
Unfortunately very slow restores is the biggest problem of flashbackup backups.
The backup is very fast. And the restore of the volume is very fast. But when
you try to restore a file, then you may wait more time than the time to
restore the volume. Netbackup reads the backup
Thanks for this. Intersting indeed.
I just caused a big headache now!!! I restarted the NBU Services after
applying the license key, and the Master EMM Services are down, not able
to start.
I removed the license key (That symantec gave me) and restarted the
system and everything is back as it
Simon,
I do not have such problems. And I use evaluation keys in my production “every
day”.
I have valid license keys and expired lics together and no problem at all.
Check it with your Symantec sales.
What option you are trying to enable?

Well I applied it again earlier, and it seems to have accepted it.
I have backups running now, so will not know if this is a problem or
not.
But thank you for the confirmation it is possible, I am after the
enterprise client I believe, to allow FlashBackups

Like the previous responder said, the retention of the redo logs are controlled
by RMAN and not Netbackup. Have the DBA's change the retention of the RMAN
backups to match their requirement if a hot backup is the only way you can
backup the data.
If you can bring down the database so that
Thanks for all of the replies.
Nic, I checked in fs_cntl and there was nothing in there. However, in fi_cntl
there are a lot bpfis.fim.xml documents and fiid files dating back a few
months from when it was installed...
Also, on VMs I asked one of the guys in the Intel team to check and have
I've just finished building a new NetBackup environment. NBU is 7.0
and the OS is Red Hat Enterprise 5. When I brought up the NBU
interface to configure the libraries, I'm seeing each one of my
libraries multiple times. I have 1 master and 2 media servers. Each
has 4 Qlogic HBAs in them. I've
Tape Drives are not supporting multipathing.

Hello,
Use this technote to configure the library
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH73944
And multiple tape paths are recognized by netbackup correctly.
Of course all paths does not work together. Netbackup choose the path that
will be used.

To clarify my question:
I currently have a live NetBackup environment where the master server
is a Dell 2950 and I have two media servers that are solaris boxes
running RHEL 4. My department wants to decommission the older boxes
and move NetBackup to newer boxes, and I wanted to upgrade to 7.0
Cheers Ed
Sadly, it looks like I cannot test this on production. Whenever I apply
the license key, and restart the services, EMM Services on my Master are
down, and no Media Servers are visible.
When I remove the key, restart the Services all is fine.
So I cannot test this now :-( All I needed

IN order to do that quickest, you would want to have a media server or
two that is configured to see both 9940 and LTO4 drives. Then, setup
those media servers to read and write to the itself and let it run.

thanks Rob, i can configure drives on the same server.
does anyone know that if there's a backup image that spans multiple tapes if
netbackup will be smart enough to know the change in tapes even if i'm not
copying the multiple tapes at the same time?
If you have all the tapes in the library, or at least all the tapes that
the images span, then yes, NBU will work it all out for you. If not you'll
have to get tapes in quickly. This is what Ed was alluding to with a lot
of groundwork.

Launch the MS-SQL Wizard from the server and look for backups in the
last 24 hours (or whatever time frame you are interested in.) Each
database with images will be listed, as well as whether the backups are
full or transaction logs. You can also get this information from the
activity monitor. The
The MSSQL backup agent is a little peculiar.
You need to sign in to the server and run the agents GUI to set up the
credentials, then quite the GU and launch it again, then you can
successfully setup the bch script.
The schedule has a frequency/window for the launching of the bch script,
