I would agree with Justin. I have a DSSU of around 8TB sitting on a CX600, with 15k drives in a SAN, and even with that the staging off will slow down the backups enough to add around 6 hours to normally a 20 hour backup. You CAN do it, but you can also drag a 1000lb weight behind your car...

Don, I had a very similar issue and it dealt with the location of the images. My disk guys gave me more space and configured the /usr/openv file system to be RAID 5 concatenated! So my catalog went from 1 hour to 5 hours! Well then relayed out the file system and now it is back down to 1 hour.

I have asked my account rep multiple times and been explained that I do not have to license my VTL (EMC CDL720). Since it is presented as a real robot to the OS, then NetBackup has no clue that it is not a robot. So, there is not always a cost for the VTL, depending on how you do the setup.

Sorry about that... The file would contain anything you don't want to backup. If I was trying to avoid backing up /export/home I would add a line with /export/home If I wanted to avoid all files that ended with dbf: I would add a line with *.dbf. And so on. Kevin
