Last January, I implemented a VTL (EMC CDL720) with 35 usable TB. We
did much study on the multiplex issue in most instances the backup did
perform faster when it was not multiplexed, but with out a doubt the
restore AND duplications speed is around 4 times as fast. So, I am

CX600, with 15k drives in a SAN, and even with that the staging off will
slow down the backups enough to add around 6 hours to normally a 20 hour

I had a very similar issue and it dealt with the location of the images.
My disk guys gave me more space and configured the /usr/openv file
system to be RAID 5 concatenated! So my catalog went from 1 hour to 5
hours! Well then relayed out the file system and now it is back down to
1 hour.

Our test backup was taking 39 mins, with a full restore time of 2 hours.
And we tested other channels, and it seems that the restore time is # of
