System state on Windows 2000 is backed up by using VSP. Can you check the
VSP cache folder on the clients. I've seen NetBackup not cleaning this
folder up causing drives to be full also cause 71 errors.
Also is it possible for you to send us the backup selection list from the
policy?

My two cents in addition to Ed's procedure since you may have NICs (on
master media) in both networks.
- Make an entry in DNS for the IP of the NIC you're going to use for
backups. Call it something like servername-nbu.
- Put REQUIRED_INTERFACE = servername-nbu in the client's bp.conf. This way
Are there any particular drives on the Windows 2000 host that you're getting
the error on?

We recently went through the same issue. First of all this is not a
NetBackup problem so don't take a lot of heat for it :)
Now the solution. There is a VSS rollup package from MS which fixes this
problem. You can get it from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940349
If your Windows team builds the
You don't have to switch IDs to be able to run jnbSA since you're prompted

In my experience multi-streaming had to be disabled to make exclude lists
work the way they should work. For e.g., if P: in your backup list is
configured to be a separate stream in the policy then you'll see errors and
that particular job will fail.

Hi Ahmed,
There's a chapter on backing up Oracle RAC in NetBackup for Oracle Systems

how Vertias has recommended in their guide as well. This is an extract from

You should delete the tapes from the scratch pool or else they'll remain
visible in the pool without a robot type, robot host etc after the eject.
Its a matter of house keeping if nothing else.

Basic question:
Do you have any tapes in the scratch pool? If yes then I'd say find a time
to restart netbackup. When you shut it down ensure that all its daemons have
