List,
I'm planning a Netbackup server upgrade from Solaris 8 sparc to Solaris 10
on CMT (T5120) and I wondered if anyone might have a check list or plan that
might have been used to do a similar upgrade? The master is the only server
in the environment.
At a high level I know I need to do the

Just curious about the system architecture used in your environments to
support backup. In my data center, my LTO drives are attached directly to
the production SAN fabric. What I'd like to do is create a separate fabric
using two MDS switches which are available to me and move the tape
Say you're planning a weekend maintenance and want to suspend backups
but want availability of the backup server in case a restore is
needed. Do you deactivate policies or is some trick to prevent policy
driven backups from starting and at the same time, leave the backup
server available for
in.

List,
This is probably a simple question but here goes...
I start a restore the the restore just waits for media with the
following message in the job details tab...
06/04/2010 12:12:58 - awaiting resource MXX010. Waiting for resources.
Reason: Media is in use, Media server: N/A,

Thanks
Just wondered if anyone could discuss the best options for backing up
VMs running on ESX 3.5 and 4.0 systems? What are the pros and cons and
which methods allow for file level restores for the VM. My backup
server is solaris.
Thanks,
Vic

Hello List,
Just wanted to get some opinions about whether disk staging units are
worthwhile. My backup server has two BasicDisk staging units with the
storage units configured such that the data goes to disk and is then
moved to tape. I have a tape library with four LTO-3 drives connected
via
List,
I have a Sun v440 running solaris 8 and NBU 6.5 and want to upgrade.
Are there any gotchas upgrading the master to solaris 10. Could
someone share any experiences doing something similar? Also, is it
possible to restore the catalog from this sparc solaris 8 system to a
new linux/NBU system?
List,
I think this is probably normal behavior but I couldn't find confirmation in
the docs. I have a media server which had a VTL configured. When the VTL was
configured, the ltid daemon was running on the media server. The VTL is
being replaced by data domain which will be used in non-VTL mode
Hello List,
I have a problem that cropped up fairly suddenly. When I run
bpmedialist -l -mlist on a single piece of media it runs for almost 90
seconds. It was running just a few seconds and abruptly started
running longer. As far as I can determine nothing changed with regard
to configuration.
Is there a command to get a backup a backup history for a specific
client over a specific time frame?
Thanks,
Vic
