Thanks, I should have been clearer sorry. I know how to do it in an exclude
list but that is global to the client. What I am trying to do is separate
subfolders into one stream and root files into another.
When is Symantec going to have per policy or per stream excludes?
I think I am missing something here, aren't exclude lists client based rather
than policy based?

I thought the excludes in the registry were also global, how do I add ones to
the reg that are tied to a certain policy or schedule?

I have a backup policy that needs to use WORM tapes for archiving and I'm
running into some trouble. When a backups kicks off all WORM tapes in the pool
get marked as assigned and then the backup fails with status-96 no media
available, if I add a regular LTO4 tape to the pool the backups run
Starting the pool with WORM fixed it, thanks!

This seems like a simple question but I can't seem to find a simple answer: I
have a bunch of new Windows 2008 domain controllers that I need to backup
everything on, including the system state. So far the only way I can get system
state to backup is to let the Netbackup account log on with
I've had a 90 day trial license installed for a new media server which has
expired, I got another trial license but can't figure out how to apply it to
the existing test media server, anyone?

I've already added the license, and it appears in license info, I just don't
know how to tell the media server to pick up that license.

Just wanted to add my voice to the choir here, BMR in 6.5.1 is much better,
simpler, free and totally worthwhile. I am already using it for system
upgrades, migrations, etc. It's much, much easier now.

Netbackup realize that the volume pool is different and run the synthetic
backup again?
Hopefully someone can tell me what I am doing wrong here.

I might be able to enlighten you some. I'm not sure the differences between
synthetics in 5.1 and 6.5 as I am only using them in 6.5.
You're close but not quite on the mark about synthetics. The point of the
synthetic is to reduce server down time, shorten the backup window and reduce
