In point of fact it only says NO to NFS/CIFS.The original question
also asked about SAN as well and I don?t know of any prohibition against
that but as others have noted

I would be careful to not put my catalogs on the same storage array(s)
as the data that I'm backing up. The same failure that loses your data
would also compromise your ability to restore it.
