This technote has not been updated for a few releases but it should give you a good base to start troubleshooting from. The NetBackup troubleshooting guide should have the latest updates. These give the process flows so you can see where communications can break down.

Greetings All, Is there anyway to properly backup SQL without a SQL license? Im running NBU 6 with MP4 and I take full backups. I take all local drives and system state. I did a test restore yesterday but I didn't get all my DB's back. There were some Unknown Errors during the initial backup.
