I have Veritas net backup version 5.1 on windows 2000 .
When I take backup using DLT on a quantum drive the data transfer rate is very
slow.
The rate is almost 1 mb/sec . Any suggestions on why this is
happening.

CAUTION - Disclaimer
I've had the exact same problem a couple of times before -- I had to reboot
the master server to recover the ability to run restores. However, I run
NBU on Windows 2003 servers, so I have to reboot regularly anyway. I've
actually attributed it to too many simultaneous instances of the
I am planning to archive some of the old files on my unix servers( user related files). I already generated the file list and kept it in a file. My intention is to backup first(bpbackup), next use bparchive to archive the files. But after reading the following technote, I am little concerned. Now

I know that Novell Netware CAN be a media server using ndmp.
At least there is a sysadmin guide :-)
Who is doing backups AND restores successfully using this purchasable option
with NetBackup 5.x?
And is anyone sharing ndmp drives with Netbackup 6.x?
NetBackup archive has always been a pet-peeve of mine. Most people, I
think, have images of the Smithsonian or Louvre when they think of the
word archive and get a warm, fuzzy feeling about keeping important
things, forever, in an archive. But NetBackup archive just gives me a
chill! Allow
Ok ... I've reinstalled the client. But I'm not familiar with using

If you're running Solaris 10, you just need to run 'inetconf' to convert
the line in the inetd.conf into a service.

Greetings all.
I am running NetBackup v5.0 MP6, and have a client on the other side of a
firewall whose administrator won't play nice and open NetBackup ports up so
I can back up the client. The only traffic they'll allow through is SSH.
I'm thinking I can use SSH tunneling to essentially get
I agree. We have been using bparchive for over 2 years now. We have over 30TB on archive tapes. Since version 5.x we have been using the ITC feature to archive to 2 sets of tapes, one of which is sent off-site. It has worked well for us so far. Earlier with bpduplicate, the whole archive process

RedHat 3.0,

The DB is all ok - The main problem was someone made a small error - its no
big deal and the thought of going through a lot of effort to correct a minor
problem was not worth the hassle!
Anyhow, BPEXPDATE has been done :-)
