I have Veritas net backup version 5.1 on windows 2000 . When I take backup using DLT on a quantum drive the data transfer rate is very slow. The rate is almost 1 mb/sec . Any suggestions on why this is happening. VIJAY RAGHAVAN CAUTION - Disclaimer

I've had the exact same problem a couple of times before -- I had to reboot the master server to recover the ability to run restores. However, I run NBU on Windows 2003 servers, so I have to reboot regularly anyway. I've actually attributed it to too many simultaneous instances of the

I know that Novell Netware CAN be a media server using ndmp. At least there is a sysadmin guide :-) Who is doing backups AND restores successfully using this purchasable option with NetBackup 5.x? And is anyone sharing ndmp drives with Netbackup 6.x?

NetBackup archive has always been a pet-peeve of mine. Most people, I think, have images of the Smithsonian or Louvre when they think of the word archive and get a warm, fuzzy feeling about keeping important things, forever, in an archive. But NetBackup archive just gives me a chill! Allow

I agree. We have been using bparchive for over 2 years now. We have over 30TB on archive tapes. Since version 5.x we have been using the ITC feature to archive to 2 sets of tapes, one of which is sent off-site. It has worked well for us so far. Earlier with bpduplicate, the whole archive process
