Hi all,
When you up-convert, do you up-convert based on media ID or image ID?
When you bpduplicate tapeA - tapeA2, tapeB is also included if its part
of a multiplexed stream.
If you duplicate by image it seems safer/better, comments?
Justin.

Hi,
Yes I realize that, thanks =)
I'm just curious which people duplicate by tape ID or image, even though
the tape ID does look at the images..

I have NBU 6.5 running on Windows Server 2003.
I have had this problem in the past and I have racked my brain trying to
remember, but to no avail. I am trying to add a new server within the
new corresponding policy, but when I select the Clients tab and try to
add the client server it does
Check for the computer browser service on the client and also turn off
firewall for testing purpose. But can't we just type the server name in the
clients tab.

I didn't know you could just type in the name, if it wasn't showing up.
That seems to have worked. Thanks for the tip!!

Hi,
I have a quick question regarding configuration of a Netbackup Media Unix
server.
Basically, I have an underlying issue with the presentation of a zoned ADIC
tape drive to a Solaris 10, T5220 media server which im currently working on
(if anyone knows how to get Solaris to see the zoned

Despite the above we did successfully move from one HP-UX master to

You are not saying whether or not you are sharing tape drives or robots.
My best practice is to only have a robot visible to one media server,
regardless of how many media servers might have access to the tape drives. Some
of Quantum's libraries actually present a problem here if you also want

I just completed about a six-month project of LTO2-LTO5 conversion. I did all
the duplications off image-lists.
I used VolSer scans (bpimmedia) to strategically pick blocks of images to do at
a time. I had a collection of scripts to process the resultant image list and
determine what tapes

Thanks Jim / Jeffc for the replies, i'll go with your advice and only have the
1 robot available to 1 media server. I had no problem installing on Redhat but
will continue my Solaris investigations.
I'll read the admin guide but I presume after the tape drives are presented to
the media server
Hi,
We are using KMS for the Tape Encryption. Where KMS allows us to use only
20 Volume pools.
Audit requirement is “Daily backup Tapes” has to be sent out from the Tape
Library.

Dear Mr Ed.
Sorry my mistake
Ex. ERP_MON Tapes are using ENC_ERP_MON Volume pool. .. . Library Slot #1
WIN_MON Tapes are using ENC_WIN_MON Volume pool. … Library Slot #10
and so on.
This sounds really odd. Why would you tie a slot to a volume pool?
It is not a Volume Pool. It is a
Netbackup can store images from any policy type in the same volume pool, and
even on the same physical media. You don't need to divert your Windows and Unix
backups to different volume pools unless that is a business requirement. I use
volume pools in my environment to differentiate media
Dear Martin,
Thanks for the reply.
Earlier we was performing the Unix backup's only.
Recently we have started doing Windows backup. So not to disturb existing
setup, we have created new volume pools for new backups
I got the point..
I will merge the Volume Pools accordingly.
Thanks a lot..
