Hello
Team
I am using some old
expired tapes that are no longer in use by our previous netbackup 3.4
systems.
I am using them in
the NBU 5.1 Server and some tapes are good, where others appear to be
bad.
Is there a way I can
completely destroy the header or contents of the
Hi:
I'm trying to configure busy files on AIX systems, but
no success at the moment.
These are the steps I have followed:
1- Modify /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf:
BUSY_FILE_PROCESSING
BUSY_FILE_ACTION = /opt/fileinuse MAIL 1
BUSY_FILE_NOTIFY_USER = root
2- I installed patches 5.1 MP3

Just a heads up for people. I dont think its my system but i have just
applied mp5 and S2 patches to a netbackup 5 installation which was at mp2.
Now i use
bpverify -p -sl schedule -hoursago n | awk '/^Media/ {print $4}'
to get me a list of tapes ran on a schedule and it emails ops so they

A few things to go through...
1.) Run vmqueury -m bar_code on one of the tapes
that you have questions about. See what the volume database reports
back.
2.) Check your retention levels for the respective policies
to see how long the images are considered valid.
3.)

Is there anyway, short of logging into 400 machines to see
which MP level I am running on a particular client?
We have noted over the years that the command set on the server
contains things that are not on the client-side.
In order to allow a selected set of machines access to more of these
commands I wrote up a little C daemon that listens on a port and
allows (TCP-wrapped tightly) access to
I have used the following PERL:#!/usr/bin/perl$| = 1;$bpclclients = "/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpclclients";$bpgetconfig = "/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpgetconfig -M";## GET THE HOSTS TO CHECK:@hosts = `$bpclclients | awk '{print \$3}'`;## Run check loop on 'HOSTS TO

Windows or Unix? They're very different. Unix isn't bad. Windows is
horrible.
Why NetBackup doesn't have a nice
FYI to those of you using Disk Staging Storage Units,
5.1mp4 includes a change that you're sure to notice:
(from the DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEMS FIXED text)
Description:
Disk staging only submits one duplication job at a time so it was unable
to make use of idle tape drives.

Hi Karl,
Solaris 10 is supported as a BMR Server, just not as a client. The only part of
the GUI that gets updated when the clients do a save config is the current
configuration. You should see the date of the client configs change (also
their settings may have changed and those changes
All,
I'm wondering what everyone is doing to backup blade servers.
For one of my customers, we have a dedicated disk SAN with a separate
Tape fabric for backups. We backup most servers over the network, unless
it's large (~200gb) at which point we put another HBA in for tape
connection. With

Hi
all
I have noticed a
certain policy that has a Backup Selection of 7 Drive
letters.
For some reason, for
the past 2 days, its only selecting 4. I removed all the backup selections and
re-added them last night.
Came in this
morning, to find only 4 streams running!
